I found this website of a "Palestinians for peace now movement"
http://www.hanania.com/palestinianpeacenow.htm
I am not sure if it is new or old and I haven't actually heard of it before..
For those who know about it, would you please explain it to me?
No rude answers please, I am looking for information not insults.
Thank you
Peace

Thanks paperback but I would like to know what's wrong with the conditions regarding the right of return?
They said not all palestinian refugees should return but some of them.
I really want to know. A few days ago you stated that atheist Jews who already have countries and not even Israelis have the right of return. Now you are against the right of return of the Palestinians whose grandprents lived in palestine and they have all the right to live in their grandparen't land. Don't you see a double standard here?
I just would like more clarification about this point.
Thanks
and peace

eww, sure. I have to drop out of university then, lol. Such movements need so much dedication and time and money as well. You would have to wait four more year lol. I hope by that time there would already be peace and no need for my movement

you state that nobody forced the palestinians to leave. What about those whose houses were destroyed. What about Irgun and Lehi. What about the war in 1967.
I don't deny that the Arabs encouraged the Palestinains to leave but this was not the only reason. There were several other reasons and you can't deny them. Many Palestinians lost their houses and they have the right of return to them.

Interesting . . . with the exception of 1 ( one ) paragraph, ALL the onus falls on Israel to accept Arab demands . . . period.
*Sigh* - This is typical of the "peace"overtures of the "Palestinians" and Arabs.
Regarding your assertion that the "Palestinians" were forced out of their homes, please note the following published quotes ( especially the second one . . . from Mahmoud Abbas, the present leader of Fatah in the West Bank ):
Jordanian newspaper FILASTIN, Feb 19, 1949: 'The Arab States have encouraged the Palestine Arabs to leave their homes in order to be out the way of the Arab invasion armies.'
MAHMOUD ABBAS, quoted in Falastin a-Thaura, March 1976: 'The Arab armies abandoned the Palestinians; forced them to emigrate, and to leave, and then threw them into prisons similar to the ghettos in which the Jews used to live.'
The Economist, Oct 2 1948: 'There have been announcements made over the air by the Higher Arab Executive, urging the Arabs to quit. It was made clear that any Arabs remaining in Haifa and accepting Israeli protection, would be seen as renegades.'
Edward Atiyah, Secretary of the Arab League Office in London, in his book 'The Arabs': 'The exodus of the Palestinian Arabs was due to the belief, encouraged by the boastings of an unrealistic Arabic press, and the irresponsible utterances of some of the Arab leaders that it could only be a matter of weeks before the Jews were defeated by the armies of the Arab states and the Palestinian Arabs enabled to re-enter.' (The Arabs, Penguin Books, 1955, Page 183)
SYRIAN Prime Minister 1948-9, Haled al Azm, in his memoirs: 'Since 1948 we have been demanding the return of the refugees to their homes. But we oursevles are the ones who encouraged them to leave! Only a few months separated our call to them to leave - and our appeal to the UN to ensure their return.' (The Memoirs Of Haled al Azm, 1973, pages 386-7)

Very interesting indeed! I hope it is a current organisation because they make a lot of sense. I can't speak for Israel, obviously, but I would have thought all their conditions are fair; the one exception, I think, would be the Right of Return. I think everything else sounded realistic - but again I am a Jew from the diaspora, I will wait with great interest to read some posts by Israelis!
I'm going to do an online search to try and find more information about this group. I know there is an Israeli equivalent, but I'd never heard of this one until your post.
Wow Mimi, you are restoring peace and friendship to the Israel section!
Go Mimi!!

I would love to see a significant number of Palestinians who actually wanted peace, and not the destruction of Israel (as so many, so vocally, demand).
As for the right of return, the reasons why it is a bad idea are several.
Firstly, refugee status was afforded to "Palestinians" who had lived in Israel for as little as 2 years; this means people who came there simply for financial gain, whether they had any real intention of making Israel their home or not. Furthermore, this "refugee" status was extended to their descendants as well as them. In other words, a supposed "refugee" might well have never have stepped foot into Israel. Notably, this outlandish definition of "refugee" is unique to the "Palestinians" -- no other group is afforded such an all-encompassing status. To allow these hordes of people a "right to return" -- particularly in light of the vehement anti-Semitic sentiments that flourish among so many of them -- would ultimately kill the Israeli state, forcing the Jewish Israelis into a minority in yet another Muslim state. It is a very bad idea.

in general, it looks like a good organization. there are such groups on both sides, and the majority of israelis and palestinians want peace.
the only problem i could see was their stance on the right of return. a one-sided right of return is not fair and will never work. just as many jews lost their homes as palestinians, it's just that they were welcomed into israel when the arabs were forced into camps by other arabs. the refugee problem is a done deal, it's history, that one is over.
otherwise, they sounded practically civilized.

You start one
Seems like you could do a good job
Just remember who thought about it
and bring me in for the talks
good luck
Paper back
Its an Israeli movement
As for the right to return, no one asked them to go no one will permit them to come back, while we are at it why don't we all agree the Sinai with world support would be the perfect place
Can anyone tell me were it says the Sinai is Egyptian

Excuse me I mean no offense here. I was reading your question and the additional info and ran across the phrase 'atheist Jews'. What on earth is an atheist Jew, is it the same as a fallen Catholic? I'm not trying to throw a wrench into the works here but I would like to understand the phraseology. I don't believe I've ever seen the word atheist used with a specific religion.

Thank you for the info, Mimi!
I noticed it says "Recognize Israel's sovereignty and security generally within the 1967 borders ..."
What reaction do you think this would get from Hamas and Hezbollah?????
I do hope for a resolution, for peace, for cooperation.....
Do you think this is possible, with grassroots organizations such as the one you shared with us here???
-and do you think, as I do, that if women ran things there would be peace?
:)
Eid Mubarak to you:)

I have not heard of it, but if it can do anything to corral the bluster of Hamas, it will be worthwhile.
