The argument would run something like this:

1) Evolution predicts we should all be heterosexual.
2) We're not all heterosexual.
3) Homosexuals must have been designed.
4) There must be a designer (i.e. God).

OK, so the first premise doesn't work, and point 3 is a bit of a non sequitur... but it's no worse than plenty of other arguments on this kind of topic. And yet we never hear fundies say, 'My son is a homosexual, and if that ain't the strongest evidence for the existence of Almighty God, I don't know what is!'

Why not? What am I missing?

#Sigh# Please don't waste energy telling me that evolution does allow for homosexuality. OF COURSE IT DOES!

A B. Of course I've said it myself! I'm perfectly aware it's an appallingly bad argument. But there are plenty of appallingly bad arguments made against evolution or for the existence of God. Why not this one?

Actually, the answer's blatantly obvious, but I found the idea amusing.

That actually makes a lot more sense than most "Intelligent Design" arguments I've heard.

Interesting that no ID proponent has ever forwarded this hypothesis.

It certainly would explain why God put man's G-spot in his bum.

Well, you've sort of said it yourself. The first premise doesn't work. And in logic, if the first premise doesn't have absolute unshakeable accurate truth, the rest of the argument falls.

I wish I could go along with it, because I love your thinking, but the reality is that there is nothing in evolution that predicts we should all be heterosexual. All evolution predicts is that there is enough activity of the sort that results in the perpetuation of the species (which in human beings means heterosexual sexual activity). Sex is pleasurable in order to ensure we keep doing it, and randomly we're likely to do enough with the opposite sex to get some pregnancy happening. But homosexual activity (both male and female) is just fine by evolution.

So - crazy as the fundamentalist argument may be, this argument isn't going to counter it adequately, I'm afraid. Never mind, there are plenty of other ways to deal with those who believe in intelligent design.

EDIT: You're right, it's no worse an argument than most of those currently used. Apologies for not having fully appreciated your intent in asking this!

According to what you're saying, one would have to accept that God designed, hence accepts homosexuality. There are at least 10 good commands from God that speak against homosexuality.
Secondly, as people "evolve" their physical properties change. And the combination of cells between the male and female determine the outcome. As life progresses, human genetics will degress with malfunctions, disease and the like.
If you're looking for evidence of God simply hold a newborn baby in your hand and ask yourself it it's possible for you to believe that first man originated from an ameboe

definitely there are countless scientific theories that help homosexuality and evolution being properly suited. First in an over-populated environment, homosexuality will improve simply by loss of possible women and to shrink inhabitants improve. there is likewise a sociological concept that homosexuality aids a species by getting persons loose from baby-rearing chores the two to help improve the greater youthful of others who're over-compelled, or have much less supplies; or to innovate and attempt new issues to earnings the species. it is been theorized that simply by fact of our loss of reproduction accountability that we are the carriers of subculture, innovation, and inventive undertaking for the human race. Sounds quite noble, would not it?

Homosexuals could honor religion or destroy it. They can create a bad image for Christian religion, which places into question all religions which worship a bias God. Or, they can accept not to be equal in God's eyes. I know someone who began to despise all bias people including the Christian God.

He fell before God and decided to worship him and give up his sexuality. Women repulse him sexually, and hates nothing more than for a women to feel attraction towards him. He prays for his death.

Yes, religion made a big assumption, that homosexuality would never be popular enough to become accepted among a society of good people.

My friend prays for death, not because he hates being born gay. He prays for death, so he is no longer surrounded by prejudice minds. He's a dear friend of Exousia. She loves him for who he is. A decent person.

I think that homosexuality is natural. It is not however, normal. Normal meaning that most people are that way. People are afraid of what they do not understand. They are comfortable with whatever is normal.

I dont think that the bible ever said that homosexuality doesn't exist, only that a person shouldn't participate in homosexcular behavior.

I believe that using the bible as a weapon to make others feel like they have no chance of getting in heaven is going to be hard to explain come judgement time. I can quote too "Judge not lest yea be judged"

Ha ha. I like it! :)

The danger here is that, while lampooning the kind of straw man argument (especially in premise 1) that is typical of SOME religious people, you are actually using a straw man argument yourself, by making a sweeping generalisation about the type of argument that is used to "prove" the existence of God.

There seem to be homosexuals in all animal species so it must be very much an intrinsic part of evolution. I don't see homosexuality as any kind of a problem, all the homosexuals I know are really quite benign individuals and are not causing trouble, same can't be said of their adversaries..

>OK, so the first premise doesn't work

Right.

>And yet we never hear fundies say, 'My son is a homosexual, and if that ain't the strongest evidence for the existence of Almighty God, I don't know what is!'

Well duh. They aren't concerned about proving the existence of God. They take the existence of God for granted, and are concerned with violating the rights of homosexuals.

Because people who use the 'its not me who is prejudiced, its God' to try and mask their own personal homophobia would say that homosexuality is a moral deviant choice, rather than something genetic that one is born with, which has to be the basis for the argument that you propose.
