How are commercial activiities affect the Carbon Dioxide level and the atmosphere?

Every truck engine running is adding carbon dioxide to the air. Every electricity generating plant using fires of gas or coal to heat the boilers of its steam engines adds carbon dioxide to the air. Almost every commercial activity uses trucks or electricity. I thought EVERYBODY already knew that.
