Spicy, chocolate, caffeinated beverages, or any "heavy" foods. For me, it is more about WHEN I eat this type of food that WHAT I eat. I have acid reflux, I can eat most anything I want before about 4pm. After that, I have to be careful or I will be up miserable all night with reflux. There are lists on the web of foods to avoid and how to manage it. If I have problems at night, I will eat two (i know this sounds stupid) bites of vanilla ice cream and that almost always fixes it.

hope you are not a choc-a-holic. typically western medicine will tell you to avoid chocolate, mint, spicy, alcohol, and fatty foods. Is life worth living with out chocolate and scotch? everyone is different in what makes them reflux, but typically fatty foods will do it to anyone who is predisposed. the reason is that the stomach needs about four hours to process fats before it passes them through (vs about 30-60 min for carbs) the longer your stomach is full the more chance to reflux. avoid eating for three to four hours before lying down at night-i know this is hard because we are all so busy. there is another school of thought on the treatment, whereas your doctor wants to block acid production, some people have found relief by drinking a few ounces of apple cider vinegar-the thought being that your body is calling for more acid to help digest and that is why your body over produces therefore giving your body what it wants stops it from having to make it. it worked for me. check your nutural food store for a good apple cider vinegar with mother amino acids.

Acidy foods like tomatoes and oranges. Also stay away from spicy mexican foods like nachos and salsa. Trust me I know because I also have acid reflux. But you might be able to take madication for it like me. I take prilosec and it really works. I can now eat all those foods I just listed. Ask you doctor about prilosec and you might not have to avoid any foods.

believe it or not acid reflux is a deficiency in acid in your stomach. So the acid pours into stop it. Generally this can be stopped by just taking a table spoon of vinegar. Oh and foods high in mint, and grease cause it.

Stay away from things like pizza unless you take something to counteract the acid reflux before you start eating. My mother has the same problem and she has do the same thing before she eats any spicy foods.

spicy, greasy or that will give you gas. don't eat those things at least 2-3 hours before you go to bed. if you do, keep some antacid by ur bedside. no bubbly drinks like sodas.
