It depends.

I had a melanoma a few years before joining and a buddy of mine had another sort of cancer. It all has to do with what kind of cancer and how long you've been cancer-free.

Well it depends on what kind of cancer it was & how your doing now. Im acually in the process of trying to join the Army & 6 years ago I had testicular cancer & lost a nut. My reqruiter sent my records up & they asked me for a follow up & I got that & sent those up & now Im waiting to see if Im cleared to go to MEPS. The reqruiters say I should be good to get in or MEPS would have DQ'd me as soon as they got my records in the first place. It may be the same for you. But heres a link on the medical DQ's & if you fall under one dont worry cause theirs always the possability of a waiver.

Talk with the recruiter of the branch of the military you are interested. You will have to undergo a physical, maybe two. if you have had recurrences, and you are cleared with your current physical, you should be able to obtain a waiver and go into the branch of the military of your choice. It all starts with speaking with the recruiter.

joe s - you should be ashamed of yourself.

You will have to talk to a recruiter. If he doesn't know, he can find out.

Hey Joe S., We know you live a sad and pathetically unsatisfying existence, peddle your crap elsewhere. You are not making a difference.

Not necessarily. If the Doctors give you a current "clean bill of health", I would think it would be ok.

not necessarily. as log as you have had no recurrences since last treatment, a waiver is possible.
