I had a maths test, I am year 8 set one (12 years old) and it was our X-Mas test. I got 64% and the average was 60%. I told my mum this and she said "You should do better."

I guess I was just born stupid.

allot of the answers you have received have told you to just be happy and to settle with 64 percent ,but I'm going to tell you that you can do better , if you were born stupid your mum would have realised by now and concentrated on another child and she would have said the sorts of things these answers have. she would have said you have achieved the best you could have bla bla bla. strive for higher marks. your mum knows your smart enough to achieve a little more.

No you are not stupid - you got above average in your mark. What your mother expects is that you do better because she knows you are better. Its actually a compliment. Why should you or your mother be content with 64%? You have to reach for the stars and be the best you can be. With a mum like yours, you have more chance of succeeding!

tell your mum you did do better
4% better than the average, and 64% better than 100% wrong.
you're not stupid if you were you wouldn't be in set 1. and if the average was 60% then you're keeping up with everyone else in the set and not lagging behind

Yes this was very unfair of your mum when you got above average. Maybe she was just in a bad mood. Well done, keep it up and no you are not stupid.

ur not stupid, yr mum probably just wants u to do yr best but shes not going about it the right way. my mum always put u down whatever u got so i always make a point to encourage my kids to try harder but not by saying they should have done better. dont worry about it just make sure u keep studying as hard as u can.

omg my mum does that all the time! " well thats not very good is it" " why didnt you get a better grade" " i hope you do better next time", if you think youve done well, which by the sounds of it you have then you'll have to ignore the comments or tell her you think youve done well . I think youve done great! Its unfair of her to say that.

As a mom, I think you did good. Maybe your mom was just not having a good day or something else on her mind. I know I have replied to my children at times without even thinking about how my reply might sound to them. I would almost bet she thinks your great, and as a mom myself sometimes I expected better when it was good enough to begin with. Sometimes us moms make mistakes.

You weren't born stupid, you did better than the class average, your mother is daft. Maths is tough for most, me included.

You are not stupid. Don't down yourself. Always do your best. Your mom see that you can do better and that is why she said that. Thank God for a mother who cares enough to tell you. God Bless
