The man at the store told me it might be grainy, or have to small a picture--I found this a little hard to believe since it is 5 megapixels. I might go back tomorrow to buy it, but I need other opinions--does anyone out there have a similar camera--what do you think? I dont really want to buy a more expensive camera as I dont use cameras very often. Thank you for your help. I appreciate all answers. Regular price is 130 dollars.

The thing is I have the same question. I'm thinking about the same camera and I read reviews at different websites for the camera and grainy photos are an issue. I don't understand why, maybe video cameras just don't make good still cameras or possibly the image captue array is low quality. I just don't know but hopefully someone will answer for us.

The only way it could be extremely grainy is if you use the digital zoom feature. Other than that subtle grain is defined differently by everyone. I have a Casio Exilim 6mp and it is too grainy for my taste when using the full 6mp resolution. I use my camera frequently so it's a big deal to me. If you only use it every so often, keep it cheap. There is no reason to spend much money on a camera you don't use.

I don't think it'd be grainy. He's just trying to upsell you to a more expensive model.

EDIT: After reading Ron A's post I have a question.. Is this a video camera that will take still pictures (ie. Camcorder) or a still camera with video feature.

If it's a camcorder, it's usually true their still photographs do not come out very well.

So this is a digital camera that takes short video? I have the canon A570 IS digital camera, 7 MP and it takes great pics and some pretty good mini videos. But...
I have found that video cameras as a rule don't take very good still pics and that digital cameras take good still pics and not very good video. If you can edit your question to show us what camera you are looking at, we can help you better.

Shouldnt be small or grainy at 5 mp, but you could give us more info like a model number.
