okay.
I am a 14 year old girl,my best friend died December 2nd of this year after fighting for 7 months and 2 days with a very rare and aggressive type of cancer.
He went through a two major surgeries, with many smaller ones in between, including a major blood transfusion when an artery randomly busted.
The first surgery,on September 11th, was to remove a tumor in the shape of a barbell, the size of two baseballs hooked together in the middle. This tumor was in his right cheek area.
The surgery seemed to have removed it all,so he was cancer free for awhile, but then a month after that,he found another tumor in his brain.
Another surgery removed that one,but they then realized that it had already spread to his lungs.
They told us that this type of cancer was uncurable, and they couldn't do anything.
He wanted to try chemo one more time, but when that round came he was way to sick to do it,and the doctors refused.
in less than 3 months,he went from being cancer free,to so sick he couldn't walk

about the tattoo part.
his mom just got a tattoo on her arm in memory of him,and asked me if we would all like to go and get a small one together in memory of him.
I'm trying to think of a good one that's small but still meaningful.
I've thought about a tattoo for him for the last 5 months, but it was bigger and I don't want to get it until I'm 18.
does anybody have some suggestions?

his name is Thomas
There were alot of things he enjoyed doing
his 3 passions though were planes, music, and his friends.
On October 21,we got to go to salt lake city for a make a wish trip to see and meet the band koRn.
usually, they only let the actual wish kid go. They got it all planned out for just thomas and his family, but when they told him,he said "I asked if my friends could go.if they can't go,I'm not going"
so,him, his band, and me went to see koRn.
He also wanted to become a pilot very badly, he had flown 3 planes before, including a simulator. He wanted to be a fighter pilot in the air force.
Thomas also loved music. Earlier this year, him and the guys started a band called revenge of the awesome. He played bass.
in the middle of the summer,we saved up money by playing guitars on a major street here and bought him his very own bass. It's black and has skulls as knobs, and at the bottom,it says "badass bass #2".
We held a benefit for him 2 days before he passed to raise money for him

Sorry to hear of the loss of your friend. Can't you find a better way to honor his memory than disfiguring yourself? You could make a donation to a cancer foundation , plant a tree or visit children who are sick in a hospital. These would be a lot more meaningful than a tattoo.

Just a thought, but using the money you'd spend on a tattoo might do more good in the hands of a charity that helps cancer patients (e.g. Lance Armstrong foundation, or a research institution like Johns Hopkins oncology or MD Anderson).

What better way to honor someone than to help beat the disease that took him away too soon.

The best answer is none.
It is best to wait until you are 18 before doing any tatoos.

If you must do one, make it small and in a location that would normally be covered by clothing, ideally with an image that does not contain his name, but rather what he loved to do.

Consider how you would feel dating someone who has the name of another girl tatooed on their bycep or forearm ...

With kind and gentle regards

I have a friend who has a tattoo of a tree and it has family names on it, he wanted something different and unique kinda like your situation. I wish I had a picture because it might sound weird but it really is an awesome piece of ink.

there are lots of small things that you can get but it all depends on what is meaningful to you and how you remember him. A few ideas: a small cross, his initials, a heart, his name in his handwriting or a date with his initials...

I think its very nice to do and also a good idea that you wait until you're 18- you may change your mind of what you want by then.

I wouldn't get a tattoo. I'd get a chain, necklace, or bracelet with his name on it.
