why is One Ps3 cost 599 and the other cost 399?

but doesnt it also deal with how the lower costing one doesn't play the ps2 games?

Because of the specifications. You're paying an extra $200 for HDMI ports, memory slots and backwards compatibility (not to mention a glossy cooler looking finish) in the 80GB.

Actually, the new PS3s are $399 40GB and $499 80GB and the reason is more features like card readers, larger hard drive etc. If it's $599 it's probably the discontinued 60GB version. The best advantage of the older 60GB version is maximum backward compatibility with PS2.

None of the PS3's cost $599 anymore. The 60GB and 80GB PS3's were both $599, but the price dropped to $499 on both of them. The 60GB PS3 is discontinued so the 80GB PS3 is the only higher priced PS3 left in stores.
The 60GB and 80GB PS3's cost more because they had more features and because they had more hard drive space. They all have the same graphics and technology.

ok the first guy is not smart they dont sell them for 599 anymore they look almost the same from the outside if you go to walmart or something you will see 80gb and 40gb
80gb:499 4usb ports
40gb:399 less memory, no backward compatibility, no card readers, 2 usb ports
those are the only differences they look the exact same from a glance they both are black with crome stuff they discontinued the 20 and 60gb models

diffrent gig size and other features. the 40 gig has lower memory than the 60. the 60 gig has 4 USB ports but the 40 has 2. the higher the prize the bmore featurs u gonna get.
