I think the best one I ever had my husband and I were in an argument he then asked me "Why do you have to talk so stupid for." Quickly I replied, "So you can understand me!" His mouth hit the floor and that was that :D

It really depends on the situation. Some things are insignificant and you can let them slide. Taking a jab at their intelligence, physical flaws, bad breeding, or lack of facts usually works when you must defend yourself. Then sometimes all that's needed is a nice, hear-felt smirk.

Somewhere along the line in your education you should learn to anticipate your opponent's best arguments. This debating skill helps in all areas of study, and in all areas of life. Make a habit of seeing things as others see them. You'll gain a lot.

An argument must be based on truth, with real data to back it up, if its scientific. The experiment must hold when repeated. If the argument against you is subjective, then you let the proof of burden lie with the accuser. Its up to him or her to prove it. Most often, this will not last long when the only argument against you is name calling.

i don't. i don't play mind games or seek to "defend" myself because i don't feel that someone who disagrees with me or says anythiing to me -- really has anything to do with me? I mean, do you care if some guy named Bob in texas votes for a different president than you? you don't even know this guy exists so you *don't* care. But you WOULD care if the told you how he voted to your face? why?

i don't care, so i don't defend. i don't take arguments personally or play the blame game.

i just calmly and logically state facts (that i know a lot of). this crushes any male ego flat, and bores any girl to change the subject.

it doesn't win my any friends tho. it would be better to manipulate -- to pretend to agree and admire the person and then later use their oppinions to make them do things -- "if you're a chrisian and that guy is your neighbor, you should ...." -- that's what most girls do -- they call it "social skills". but i don't. oh well.

I usually go:

hey! Did I show you how nicely my Desert Eagle shines?

And magically a lot of people start agreeing with me more than before.

=P

Most often, I stridently adhere to properly tested, well understood logical and eloquent remarks. My favorite is "Na-ah, I am not either a big stupid toad! You're a bigger stupid toad!"
