The Greek word aggelos is masculine, as is the Hebrew m-l'-k, and they are always referred to as "he" in Scripture translated into English, but i would argue, as with the word God, that this is actually an example of grammatical gender in English and that they are sexless. Back when English had grammatical gender, they were masculine. However, they are often painted as female because they are considered to be beautiful.

I refer to the Holy Spirit as "she" for the same reason: paraklete and sh-kh-n-h are both feminine in Greek and Hebrew respectively. However, in the case of the Holy Spirit, clearly she is feminine because the Logos is masculine.

Male. Isnt it why women used to have to cover their hair in church, so that angels werent driven to lustful thoughts?

Personally I think that some are men and some are women. Basically I believe that when you die you turn into one, so whatever sex you were before, you'd be the same sex after.
