Why do you have to save up money to interview? The sooner you start interviewing, the sooner you will get a job so you can get your finances straight! Don't put it off another second!

Sounds like a pretty poorly engineered solution far from optimum. But then, you said you wanted to apply for entry level jobs, which usually need plenty of supervision. I would suggest you get some supervision for general life issues, as well. First of all: get rid of the car. You can't afford it.
Secondly, you need that better paying job NOW, not two months from now.
Why quit your job? You can go for an interview, let the tensions rise and then let them fire you. You don't need that job on your resume. If you have an engineering degree it will actually look VERY poor if you talk about it, at all.
Jeez.... someone needs to help you. And not just with engineering.

A degreed EE working as a secretary? Did you get your degree from an accredited univeristy? Or are we talking about DeVry here?
If the former, how could you, after 4 years of university, slide into a $12/hr secretary job? Just send out your resume to every technical company you can find. The government claims there is a dire shortage of engineers (hence the H1-B visa program). You trust the government, right?
If the latter (Devry, etc), you need to set your sites on a technician job, not a design engineer. Still will make more than $12/hr

Try to get an engineering job ASAP. You are an engineer and you are still working for $12/hour!! Entry level engineers’ salary starts at 55k. Don’t you think your plan is not efficient to make money? You don’t have to quit your job to go to interviews, if you know enough about your major and you have done your homework, should not have a hard time with interviews. Good luck with your new job.

i'd start scouting the job market for E.E.s right now. it will cost you a little time to see where the jobs are at and the pay (without ur current boss knowing). remember that companies are starting on-line interviews, so i'd brush up on interview techniques. before you take the plunge, have enough funds saved in order to pay all the bills for 3-4 months, when switching jobs, as a buffer. hope it works, good luck!!

You should not have to quit your job to interview. Many companies can do an initial interview over the phone and if they like you they will invite you in at your convenience to get a second interview.
I think this is a fair plan. Getting your credit in line is a good idea.

I hope you can figure it out.

I think you need to cancel one of your credit cards and pay them both off. try to safe all the money you can. live through a budget. maybe you can go to the bank and get 30o dollars a week and live off of it. Go to the bank every week and get more money but live through s budget, because if the plans you have now fall through you could get you car taken away and your belongings. Since it's christmas season you'll probably buy presnts for people go to stores with good vule itams but aren't alot because you need to get those bills paid. since you arn't taking off work right noe for interviews, in your spare times go through news papers and look for interviews. schedule them for weekends or during your winter break, send in your resume. hop i helped

i make more than my mom does who works at 15$ an hour as a department manager and with both our incomes together we still dont make enough to support her me and my brother and sister. its a very tough thing. the only thing i can tell you is dont worry about your employer just try to schedule interviews that work with your schedule. its all you can do. because if you quit then problems arise that can make life a living hell. personal opinion? just try and work around your schedule. you work it out dont worry.
