For those (atheists) to understand that the reason that we believe or choose to follow God, is because he is the only one (thing) in our lives that promises eternal love for us (and for you)? Isn't that what everyone wants? And do you think that those who do follow Him, would continue if they didn't get what they were looking for?

Keep in mind that those of us who follow non-christian religions feel much tha same about our religions. many of us tried crhristianity, but didn't get what we were looking for.
Christians must understand that not every path is for everyone, and there is no such thing as the "one true religion"..

Most children are indoctrinated, from an early age, to believe in some god or other. It's an insidious process because it begins when humans are too young to consider what they're being told, so they have no choice but to believe. Some of us discover critical thinking, and discard the old programming, and don't understand why it's so difficult, or impossible, for others to see how they're being manipulated.

We can see how transformations occur when the six principles are skillfully put into play by cult leaders and cultic groups. For example:
1. Consistency. If you have made a commitment to the group and then break it, you can be made to feel guilty.
2. Reciprocity. If you accept the group's food and attention, you feel you should repay them.
3. Social proof. If you look around in the group, you will see people behaving in particular ways. You imitate what you see and assume that such behavior is proper, good, and expected.
4. Authority. If you tend to respect authority, and your cult leader claims superior knowledge, power, and special missions in life, you accept him as an authority.
5. Liking. If you are the object of love bombing and other tactics that surround you, make you feel wanted and loved, and make you like the people in the group, you feel you ought to obey these people.
6. Scarcity. If you are told that without the group you will miss out on living a life without stress; miss out on attaining cosmic awareness and bliss; miss out on changing the world instantly or gaining the ability to travel back in time; or miss out on whatever the group offers that is tailored to seem essential to you, you will feel you must buy in now.

[Excerpt]

Robert Lifton labeled the extraordinarily high degree of social control characteristic of organizations that operate reform programs as their totalistic quality (Lifton 1961). This concept refers to the mobilization of the entirety of the person's social, and often physical, environment in support of the manipulative effort. Lifton identified eight themes or properties of reform environments that contribute to their totalistic quality:

1. Control of communication
2. Emotional and behavioral manipulation
3. Demands for absolute conformity to behavior prescriptions derived from the ideology
4. Obsessive demands for confession
5. Agreement that the ideology is faultless
6. Manipulation of language in which cliches substitute for analytic thought
7. Reinterpretation of human experience and emotion in terms of doctrine
8. Classification of those not sharing the ideology as inferior and not worthy of respect

(Lifton 1961, pp. 419-437, 1987).

Anyone who believes in God and knows a little of what it is all about accepts that the journey is not easy, our human nature is weak and we fall into temptation often. Anyone who accepts Jesus as Lord will have read a little of the life of the Apostles.

Just like they believe that the sun and moon are practically the same size in our sky by chance. Not to mention the position of our planet to the sun, a little closer and it would be too hot a little farther and it would be too cold, another coincidence, shall I go on?

I was a Christian once. And if that was your god's idea of "eternal love" then I am quite happy with the non-eternal love I experience here on earth.

I'm happy you found someting that makes you happy (That is nor sarcasm by the way.) But I can't accept it as truth. I would not for the World try to undermine or destroy anyones faith as long as they don't expect me to believe it too or harange me with their beliefs.
As it happens I have my own with which I am quite content.

Which question do you want answered first. I don't care what they understand when or if they want Chirst he will be there. I would rather fellowship with the believers on R&S.

God did not speak to anyone.
Why can't god explain to every one personally and individually that he or she -(male or female god)- has the above-mentioned qualities and feelings like human beings do.-towards human beings and also towards beef and chicken.
Why is god not teaching people not to kill beef, chicken or pork?

I understand that it's YOUR BELIEF

Just don't include me in it.

And to your question: To me..it's all in your head. I get all the love I need from my family.
