I don't want to wait around for my employer to get mine to me.

By law your employer is required to have your w-2 to you by January 31, 2008. There are lots of companies who send it before then, but then there are lots of companies who send it by the deadline of January 31, 2008.

You can ask.....and they can say no.

IMHO...payroll people tend to be control freaks. The W2s usually sit on someone's desk for a couple of weeks before they actually hand or mail them out.
