Hi, my sister has always been jealous of me and wants to copy whatever i get in life. When i told her i was pregnant i knew she would have to do sumthin about it. She never likes being left behind & now is pregnant too. She recently stayed with me for the weekend and everything was about her and her unborn baby, nothing about me or my baby which was nearly due! I also got engaged recently and now she is pestering her boyfriend for the same thing! My mam said that my sisters attitude is "anything you can do,i can do better!". Other family members have also commented on this.
It bothered me at first that she was pregnant because she will take some of the limelight away from my baby, but it will be nice that there will only 6months between them.
It just seems that whatever i do,she has to copy me and try to outshine me by doing it in a more expensive way.
She is eight years older than me & only back with her boyfriend 8mths after a split of four yrs
Would someone like this bother you?

She can only get to you if you allow her to.
At the end of the day you are doing things because YOU want to.
She is doing them to be the same as you.
I know which one I would rather be.
you are the leader here, she's only following.
With that knowledge you have the upper hand
She sounds quite insecure to me and maybe wants to be as nice and genuine as you and this is the only way she knows how to.

Yes this would bother me, but guess what? You have some self-esteem and she doesn't, and it's obvious. That man is going to eventually leave her again if she keeps on pressuring him to get married. Then, that'll be another broken home that her unborn child will have to make since of.
I'd just keep on doing what I do, and at some point, hopefully your sister will realize that she's making a fool out of herself, and then she'll get the strength to love herself. Because if she loved herself, she wouldn't be trying to compete with anyone, let alone her baby sister.

i have been in a similar situation and the only thing you can do is either accept the way she is and continue to rise above it or make sure you always come out on top. in truth though, your sister is probably jealous of you for a reason and is probably insecure so perhaps you should jut let her get on with your life and ignore it. have you got a better life than her (more settled relationship, more money etc)? if so you could try complimenting her on certain things and see how it goes - make her realise that she doesnt have to be jut like you. say things such as "you are so lucky because..."
its worth a try anyway and in the meantime dont let it get to you.

It probably would bother me, if I was you but I am not.
Something you might need to know which appears to have escaped you is this:
Your sister is, you say, eight years older than you......have you ever thought that she might get upset because you are doing things that she thought she'd be doing first?
I know that when my younger sister got married before me, had children before me I always felt I was inferior to her and some sort of failure.
Now I'm a lot older it doesn't matter but back then it did.

confront her and tell her to grow up,
let her know that she doesn't have to compete with you, your life is for you to lead and she shouldn't try and live her life like yours but lead her own life separately,
she can never be better than you and you were never better than her because there is no competition

yes it would bother me. i think you should talk to your sister and tell her how you feel. she is probably behaving like this because of her own insecurities.
