"El" means "God" There are a number of archangels, depending on the source you read--some come from Judaic apocryphal texts, like the Book of Enoch, and some come from medieval mystics, such as Dionysius the Aeropagite and others.
The most familiar archangels probably are Rafael, Mikael, and Gabriel. Uriel also is sometimes named. These are related to the 4 quarters of space, the acknowledgement of which was important to occult forms of medieval Christianity and ceremonial magick. (Other names include Azaziel, Tzadkiel, and myriad other names that have certain powers and responsibilities according to various occult texts).
Their isn't a hierarchy among the archangels but a hierarchy among the 9 choirs of angelic beings. I may be off a little with this, but the order, beginning from the lowest to the highest are: dominions, angels, principalities, archangels, powers, (ok I'm missing one here), thrones, cherabim, and seraphim.

'arch' just means that this angel has command over other angels. michael is the only archangel mentioned in the bible aside from satan and a few cheif demons. gabriel is the herald of God's covenant/grace. michael is the prince of israel and God's people.
yes there is a highly organized hierarchy among the angels of heaven and hell. all of them are ministering spirits used by God (yes even satan himself is on a leash) to fulfill His will.
it is a fascinating subject when it is revealed in the Bible. for instance the four living creatures around the throne of God in revelation are actually four cherubim, the highest order of angels. lucifer was referred to as the 'covering' cherub before his fall from grace. that is to say he was as high if not higher than michael in rank. and in revelation there are four fallen angels who are held in prison under the river euphrates. they are the prince-angels, the principalities and powers that paul was referring to. it is also curious that in daniel, michael mentions the prince of greece, the prince of babylon, the prince of rome, and the prince of persia... referring to these four chief demons ministering the world's four greatest empires. at the end of the world all four of them are let loose to slay 1/3 of mankind on the earth.

There's only ONE archangel (hence the word "arch")
Only two angels are named in the Bible- Michael and Gabriel.

I can't name them but I think "el" refers to God in some way in Hebrew or some Hebrew related language.
There are other languages though like Spanish where "el" means something different.
