I personally get a little upset when people get mad at me for saying "Merry Christmas" they say it's "not politically correct". and That it might offend those who don't believe in Jesus and God. And i'm just wondering, how could someone try to take Christ out of "Christ"mas? I would be mad if someone tried to take me out of my birthday.
what do you think?

Just for some new details:
I am so glad that people are responding to this question. Just to clear some things up that have come up in some of the answers. i have NOTHING against saying "Happy Holidays" and i have NOTHING against the other holidays celebrated at this time of year, i am personally very fascinated with Kwannza and Hanaunkah. When i said i get upset, i get upset with people and the media who attack Christmas and try to say that it's offensive.

Okay first Christmas is not Christian and has nothing to do with Christ and is a perversion of pagan celebrations which the bible condemns God's people to take over pagan days and cal them God's days.
The following links are from what you all call cults but it is funny they know the truth about Christmas while you all who condemn them do not. Read them and know that the facts are historical.

that being said I have no problem with Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays and I laugh at people who really believe Christ would approve of this being named after him.
What I see is so called Christians are the ones who holler when they are wished Happy Holidays even you yourself said so. Get over yourself and realize you are celebrating a holiday your God wants no part of.

The ACLU can NOT take Christ out of Christmas no matter how hard they try. I do concede the point that there are various holidays celebrated by various faiths at this time of the year, so Happy Holidays isn't in appropriate. I wish my Jewish friends a Happy Hanukkah, and if I knew anybody who celebrated Kwanzaa or something else I would wish them a Happy one as well. But since the vast majority of the population celebrate Christmas, then Merry Christmas is totally acceptable. If someone says you aren't being "politically correct", just tell them that you don't care.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Yule, Happy Holidays, Seasons Greetings, Happy Winter...
Aren't they all just well wishes during this time of year? Can't we all simply accept them as that rather than taking them as a direct insult if the greeting said does not match your personal beliefs? Why can't an athiest hear Merry Christmas and just think to themselves Seasons Greeting and say Thank You. And vice versa. Why does everything have to be taken as an insult today?

I'm not Christian but I celebrate Christmas anyway, Christmas hasn't been about Jesus for years. I say Happy Holidays just to get all the bases covered ya know? Hannukkah is over, and NOBODY celebrates Kwanzaa, so Merry Christmas is pretty safe, I just say Happy Holidays out of personal preference.

Why does this cause so much trouble? When I am greeting someone I know is Christian...I say Merry Christmas. If I'm greeting a group of mixed company, I will say Happy Holidays. I don't consider it a "bash" on Christianity to say Happy Holidays. Why would I greet someone with a greeting that makes no sense to the person? I don't say "Good Morning" to people when it is night time....why? Because it would have no meaning to them.

I say Merry Christmas to my christian friends and family but for most part I say Happy Holidays to include others who are not christian. It's a season of many religious holidays, not just christmas.
I don't get offended at all when someone says Merry Christmas to me but I do find it rude when someone asks my young son "what is santa bringing you for christmas?" or numerous other assumptions made on our family that I have to explain to my child. Again.
