I seem to agree with you, not the article but I wanted some opinions and I did. Please stop attacking me though, I was curious what others had to say is all!

Religion...no. Many of the OT laws actually kept Jews much healthier than the peoples around them.

Christianity as interpreted by Jesus believed in the same laws, so again, no.

Early Apostolic Christianity which was full of narrow-minded people who saw the devil in every corner? Yes.

i could blame the rams losing to the pats in '02 on stalin if you give me enough paper. the article is actually kind of lame in that sense.

obviously the population is getting healthier greater and pople like mother teresa spent her whole life trying to help public health so, whatever.

in the past with all that bloodletting and no baths may have been bad, if you believe it was actually religon that put forth those ideas. people didnt know diddly about the human body back then or the concept of germs/virus so theis is the kind of goofy **** they did all over the world, not just in xian places.
how about some of the ancient indian or chinese cures. just as dumb.

this article seems misaligned with the modern tennet "cleanliness is next to godliness"...
with or without religion, adequate education of a population is the main ingredient for public health, and i don't think this is necessarily the responsibility of religion.
furthermore, i can't think of any reasons why religious groups would not wish to keep the public in good health.

since public health has only gotten better throughout the ages its hard to believe that the argument made was more than just a temporary loss of certain practices and rituals.
