I have a 1966 Lincoln Continental with a 462ci 7.6L Long Block in it (yea I know, its a boat but will look nice when bagged w/ suicide doors).

I want to make it a daily driver after I have this shop do the rebuild work. I will be doing front end work, springs, shocks, etc. I want to make it an electronic ignition so I can add a auto starter and alarm. How can I do this and what else should I possible make the car perform better as a daily Driver?

Also on a side note, Does anyone know a local shop that can take out my 462 engine and put it back in when its rebuilt? I am in the Washington, DC area. So Northern Virginia and most parts of Maryland would work Best. I got quoted $1300 and looking for a reputable shop that's cheaper. There phone # would be appreciated.

Since you plan on modifying it anyway and it will not be a stock collectors car,i strongly suggest that you ditch the original engine and trani and go with a late seventies 460 and c-6 out of a ford pickup. If you must hop it up parts are readily available and fairly inexpensive ( nobody wants the gas hog 460 so you can buy a donor truck with everything that you need to make it work in your car including electronic ignition,mounts,linkages,carburetor,wiring-everything all for the price of a rusted out gas hog truck that nobody wants anymore). If you look hard enough im sure that you can find an engine and trani that is running well enough to just drop in and go for less than a grand or cheaper-its alot of work though.Good Luck!

Look in the phone book and see what you can find. Since you are modding the car, you may want to consider going to fuel infection instead of the carburetor. This would make the car more reliable and you'd get better performance. You could also consider higher compression pistons, different cam and valve train. It all depends on what you want out of the engine.

good luck, when you're done, it should draw a lot of attention.

First of all, that's gonna be a tight as5 ride when you're done.
Second, I used to live in Manassas, VA and commute to DC every day.
Third, you are a nut to even consider driving that thing on a daily basis. Even if someone doesn't side swipe you or ding the doors- How you gonna find parking? How much you wanna spend everyday on gas? GOOD LUCK YOU CRAZY MOFO

While you have the engine rebuilt, spring for blue printing.
Have the crank cleaned, and peened.
See if you can get a windage tray fabed for it.
