Please only answer if you are a piercer, or have a similar(facial) surface piercing yourself!! Thanks.
I am really concerned it is rejecting. It has red lumps on either end(at the holes) and the lumps, and the area surrounding them are hard. Occassionaly puss comes out (!) The ball at one end is slightly indented in one of these lumps. It has been furiously itchy in the past week.
About a week & a 1/2 after getting it done, I knocked it, and upon a visit to my piercer, he said it was infected. I am cleaning it 3-4 times a day with a sea salt solution, trying my hardest not to knock it, and eating healthy, as well as taking multi vitamins!
It was pierced with PTFE which I hear now was not the best thing for the piercer to use.
What should I be seeing in a healthy piercing at this stage along?
What can I expect to see in a rejecting or migrating piercing?
Are any of the things I mentioned above normal for my type of piercing?
I appreciate your help people!!
Thankyou.

I had a pair of anti-eyebrows that stayed put for about 2 years before they finally decided to grow out. Mine were done with curved barbells which fit my face much better than surface bars or ptfe.

I would suggest that you go to your doctor and have him look at your piercing. It sounds pretty obviously infected and you will probably do well with a course of antibiotics. I'm all for trying to heal crabby piercings naturally but if it is that red, hard, itchy, and pussing then its time to get some meds.

Some redness is normal, but it should really be more of a healthy pink, healing color. Bright red and big gross bumps are not normal. A little itching would be natural but enough for you to really notice is too much.

In a healthy piercing it should only be sore if you bump it, maybe produce a little crust still, and be a normal color except maybe right at the openings.

I would suggest getting to the doctor and continue salt soaking it durring your antibiotics. Once the infection is cleared up take a look at it again. If the red bumps at the opening are still there, speak with your piercer about changing to better jewlery. If your piercer doesn't know what to do with it, speak to a piercer who does. They may ask that you take it out, let it heal and re-do it correctly. But at least you will have piercings that are pretty at long last.

not really the same i guess but i had my wrist pierced... puss would suggest thats its infected...however at 3 weeks i still have a little redness at each end of the balls...

i was told its normal and should heal fine with antibiotics... which i just started today...

i love my wrist piercing and it would break my heart to take it out, but it is a pain and i was told it would take about 3 months to heal rather than the usual 6 weeks..

as far as i was told by my piercer.... its illegal to use ptfe plastic bars for surface piercing as it leads to more infection.

they should have used a normal curved titanium coated bar... legal requirement,... and suggested that you go back in 2 weeks to be measured for a specially fitted staple bar..not sure if its called a staple bar but these are cutsom made for your piercing and need to be measured by a professional . they should have offered this service when you initially had the surface piercing done.

It is perfectly normal for a piercing to migrate... i was told it could happen at any point, some people have it for a week some for years... the important thing is to not touch it.

i move mine once a day in a saline bath, which i know is impractical for your face... however i was told to put cotton pads over the piercing and then soak it in saline solution.

dont use any type of antiseptic at all. no savlon or anything . this will heal the piercing however it will heal the holes which you dont want because then it will effectively heal up and you wont be able to remove the bar.

you should also NOT remove the piercing if its infected this can lead to a nasty nasty infection and abcess... at the moment the infection can get out because of the holes where the bar is... you take that out. the piercing heals and infection is trapped...

bear with it... surface piercings always take longer to heal than normal piercings no matter where they are...

PLEASE SERIOUSLY DONT REMOVE THE PIERCING!

have a read at this! PLEASE DONT REMOVE THE PIERCING... I CANT STRESS THAT ENOUGH!!!

A salt solution is not going to do much for infection. Sterile saline can be used as a cleanser however you need a disinfectant. I personally prefer tea tree oil as it has natural antibiotic properties. You should be able to find it at any drug or heath store.

I am unfamiliar with PTFE other than I have used them for retainers. A good question to ask yourself is was the jewelry sealed or sterilized prior to insertion. If no, see a doctor, have it removed and start a course of antibiotics..

However if you do have sterile jewelry and just an infection, try a decent disinfectant for a few days, if you see no improvement you may want to see a doctor and have the piecing removed.

i would take it out asap.. that doesn't sound good... at 3 weeks it shouldn't be the way ur describing it.. if u see puss and its dark yellowish or some other color than white its definitely infected. People hear puss or see puss and they think something is automatically infected.. white puss is just cleaning that area but now colored puss is infection ...take it out girl and i would go to the doctors to see if they can give u a medication for the healing process... and I WOULD GET MY MONEY BACK if u can ... good luck

What price vanity?

But seriously, it is infected. It has all the signs. Get to a doctor TODAY and start on anti-biotics. You don't want to go blind.

Sea salt solution is not going to kill the germs. Try hydrogen peroxide. That should do the trick. Hang in there. It will get better
