Are Food Processors a good tool to buy? (like cuisinart or kitchen aid)?

i dont actually use one but sometimes i think they might be useful instead of chopping stuff with my knife. i do have a blender which also has the chop and features like that but it's so big i barely ever use it. i saw these food processors for sale at bed bath and beyond for $40 plus 20$ rebate. is that a good price? are they worth it?

heck yes.
i was against getting like one of each and that little bullet. but i use em all 3- 4 times a day.
ivve even started making my own nut butter from different nuts like cashew hazel almond. its unbelieveeable the stuff you will start ding when you get them

I have a large Kitchen Aid food processor and I love the thing. It sits on my counter and I use it almost daily. I rarely use my blender. I make smoothies in the summer and that's about it.

The price you saw may be a good buy depending on the brand. If it's an off brand, meaning its NOT a Cuisinart or Kitchen Aid I wouldn't get it.

I use my food processor for making salsa, biscuit dough, chopping onions, shredding potatoes for hash browns, making pie crusts, cheese spreads and a dozen other chores.

I'm sensing that you don't really know what you'd do with it.
It would be a shame to spend $200 or more for a dust catcher. You might be better off gettting a decent set of knives. A chef's knife, a paring knife and cheap serrated knife for cutting bread.

That is a decent price for those, but frankly the one that I use the most is the mini-processor that I got for about $10. Not some name brand either. I've had a number over the years and the Rival I had outperforms the bitty KitchenAid currently residing in the kitchen hands down.

The little ones are so handy for chopping an onion or a couple of stalks of celery or whatever - things I would not bother to dirty the larger food processor for.

I think they are great...We use our food processor at least once a week....
If you don't do a lot of BIG stuff, you could loook into getting a Magic Bullet for smaller stuff...We have a food processor that is actually an attachment to our blender, BUT (like you said) its kinda big and bulky...so we stick to our Magic Bullet for other uses. For as cheap as they are now and for as many accesories as they come with, they are worth trying out if you are unsure of getting a food processer....

they are a time-saver yes, but not entirely necessary. I own a Cuisinart, a Braun hand mixer and "the bullet". after the novelty wore off, I went back to chopping by hand. I feel it gives a more personal connection with the food.

I can't live without my KA food processor. It does about everything. I have the big one, but $40 for the small one is about right. It's not just chopping, you can make salsas, hummus, oils, grind nuts, you name it. It's a great investment.

It's a good price if you will actually use it. I have a small Cuisinart food processor. It's great when I need it.

Yes because they are easiler to pour out than blenders and If you want a microsize foods your going to need it or our going to chop and chop with your knife forever.

unless you have a family of 4 and more don't bother..
the mess to clean up or just put away NOT worth the time...
Just as YOU said even the blender is a pain..
I just bought a mandolin,,, simple hand operated
I still use my knife....

Yeah, they are worth it because they cut down on prep time such as chopping vegetables etc... I would say that is a good price.
