The christian group Baptists believe that God took the rib of Adam and made Eve from it and that that is why man is greater than women and so on and so forth. Also they believe that he made Eve for Adam. So basically women were put on earth for man's own pleasure or whatever. I, however don't believe this, but to each his own I supposed.

Yes, there actually DO seem to believe the whole rib thing.
One day here I saw a question posed by someone who'd obviously seen ONE TOO many "how come there's still monkeys" question:
If Eve was made from Adam's rib, how come there's still ribs?

I'm so sorry that you feel that you are related to a monkey. But why would you give God such short arms. God bless you Scientist can create clones with dna but God can't?
Did you hear they found lost records of genesis and God tells Adam that he will create a woman for him she will clean and cook and take care of all his needs, well Adam said to God that's great but what will it cost me . God told him an arm and one leg, well the rest is history.

OK here is my opinion on the whole rib/creation theory...
(take into account that man edited the Bible)
woman was created first...and God looked upon his creation and was pleased...
Woman became lonesome, and God put her into a deep sleep, and from UNDER her rib, (babies are carried UNDER the ribs, in the abdomen of the female) God created man...and God looked upon his creation and was pleased
