I can handle everything else but the binge drinking out of new years is just evil.

The big corporations haven't stolen the joy of the holidays for my family, I hope nothing ever does. We celebrate Yule and Christmas, I wish they would consider Yule a "real" holiday. Since I'm pagan, I know that most xmas and easter traditions were pagan originally, and it makes me smile.

Ahahahaha Vish!
I think people need to get unproprietary about thier holidays (pagans included) and just get over it. Celebrate what you want and RESPECT others right to do the same. And be happy about it damn it!
And they would never take the binge drinking out of New Years. Talk about some serious loss of capital....

You are right us pagans should be getting more credit for the holiday season .
It is beyond me why the dont even put Yule on the calender they put every thing else on it
I Guss its all part of a marketing sceam to get people to blow all their hard earned money on the joys of Christmas
Happy Yule

Heathens and pagans are doing their part and celebrating and doing charity like we've always have.
As for Easter - we'll be celebrating the original pagan holiday there too. Rabbits and eggs, anyone? Don't forget the Maypole and what that represents of the season.

I think that they should combine all the things they are taking out and form a holiday out of it....
kinda like Eastyouchristsole, I am sure as they keep taking stuff out the name will get longer.
And instead of doing the obvious and making the day about the things taken out, it should be a day to wear funny hats, eat canned foods, carry noisemakers and be allowed to hit people with socks full of quarters.

You know... I don't see any big inflatable baby sun gods in people's front yards, so I think us pagans are safe from the commercialization. This is one the the advantages of being part of an er... "hellbound" religion.

pagans tend not to require others to abide by our beliefs, and wouldn't let a minor thing like gross consumerism take the meaning out of our sabbat. do you ever hear of us griping about capitalists taking the meaning out of halloween? [outside of r&s that is. r&s is a reality unto itself.]
