I think a deep dark, scarlet type red would be beautiful.

Paint it an accent color, whatever you like, as suggested above. Anything would be OK since you are starting with a neutral background. It depends on what color your bedding is. If it is a print, take a color you like out of it and paint the accent wall that color. If it is solid and neutral, use pillows in the same or complementary colors on the bed. Your furniture sounds fairly modern, so I would stay away from flowery prints. Use geometrics and linear patterns or solids. You could repeat this on the wall. You can make dramatic changes with paint very cheaply. Tape off about 2/3 up the wall and paint the top a different color if you wish, or paint stripes or circles. Just make sure the lines are very clean and not blurred between the colors. Buy accessories (vases, etc.) in matching solid colors as well and eliminate any clutter. This will tie it all together. If you paint the wall red, use red, yellow, orange and brown accents.

I agree that you need some color besides black or white. Too much of that will positively scream!
And yes, the wall behind the headboard is a good choice: Anywhere else would just plain look random.
I would suggest sage green. Or even maroon, if you're into bolder colors.
Good luck!

1] first, pick out bedding and window treatments, then use one of those [ bright ] colors for the accent [ head of bed ] wall.
3] get throw pillows that match the bedding, or the different colors of the bedding , for bed and chair
3] add other small accessories in two of the bedding colors - lamps/shades, vase, ornaments, flowerpot, candles/holders.
4] I would throw in some chrome or silver, to go with that steel bar on the headboard [ lamps? mirror? pic frames? ]
5] try to include bedding colors in artwork - even a little reflects nicely, and ties room together
6] a green plant always softens room, which is great for a bedroom!

That's a really good idea! I think that the wall behind the headboard would work as a great accent wall. I think that maybe a burgundy or a dark orange would look really nice.
Good luck!

Paint the wall behind the headboard or the wall across from the room's entrance. As for the color, I would go bold & paint it "blue chip" by sherwin williams. Check it out:

I'd paint the wall behind the headboard a bright red. Or a bright Orange/Red.
If you're not sure about a bright color - maybe a warm cinnamon color would draw it all together.

If you are not afraid of color, a brick red would be beautiful. Real red can be kinda bold, but if you have that type of personalit, go for it! If you are more of the relaxed type, you will want to go for a mocha color- which is a light brown. You need to make sure the wall matches your comforter, so buy a comforter you LOVE and go around it. A sage green - which is a light soft green would also be nice.

If you go with a dark color, it will make that side of the room feel heavier. If you go lighter, it will do the opposite. Just be mindful that if you change the color and decide to go back to white, the darker color you choose will be harder to cover. That being said, I like something with a bit of tint- stark white is too severe, and makes me think hospital.

Since you have colors from nature in your sofa, rug, and coffee table table, go with another color from nature; a light shade of green. I agree with the maroon accents, pillows on the sofa, maybe a throw rug under the coffee table, and maroon drapes. I think all would go nicely for the living room and dining room. Good luck on your decorating! I hope this helps.
