heres something for all of you to think about, Bruce Lee was trained to kill and immobilize the opponent and fight numbers of people, now, UFC fighters are more ring trained,,,and how many people do they fight in the ring?? and can you see these UFC fighters fighting a crowd of people jumping them, especially when their training consists mostly of ground strategies, can you see them fighting a crowd on the ground...cuz i can't....so Bruce Lee wouldn't fight, cuz you already now that he would accidently f*ck someone up.

OH, the reason why most of you think he would lose is because your not thinking about the fact that you only seen him in movies, and they have to water the style down because can you show a movie to people where theres is nothing but eye gouging and scenes of the opponents drowning in their own blood, alot of ppl wouldn't watch it.

Bruce Lee took what worked from anything he studied. (an argument can be made that he is the father of the modern mixed martial arts movement, but that's for another time)
If Bruce and MMA coexisted at the same moment in time, then Bruce surely would have learned from it, and it would have been the perfect venue for him to excel in. (I wouldn't go so far as to say he would be a champion tho')
Also, keep in mind that he was "challenged" often, and reputedly never lost (and these challenges weren't set up so that he only had to fight those in his weight class!). Is it far fetched to assume that he faced at least some grappling experts? (this seems to be the real issue when discussing whether Bruce Lee could have beaten modern MMA fighters)

The bottom line is he absolutely could have been a force to be reckoned with in the octagon if they had his weight class.

actually, bruce lee did study grappling skills. for a while he was studying either judo or jujutsu i don't remember which.
bruce lee was a phenomenally fast person. I think that he probably could've taken on the higher end people, but he did have a definite weight disadvantage against them. however i doubt that they could get him down to the ground very often, because he would be too fast. he would probably knock them out standing up. in real fights, a lot of them end standing up (although of course they go to the ground after the dude gets knocked out). so bruce lee would excel. he may not be the best, but he would excel. everyone loses sometimes, no one is invincible.

Well, honesty he wouldn't. If memory serves, Lee weighed in at only 135lbs. The UFC does not sanction fights that small.

At his best though, were Lee to walk into a match without any other training, I think Lee would be too far out of his element, when it came to the ground game. Give him 3 months training in grappling with someone like Punishment, Top Team, Coutoure's team in Hollywood or Militich, and he'd be lethal.
If you read up on the history of Bruce Lee, the guy was a sponge. Show him one thing, one time, and it was his. I honestly think that with 3-6 months prep and the proper size, Bruce Lee could have dominated in the lightweight division.

Bruce Lee would probably be good in his weight class in MMA. But taking the question at face value, and challenging what a lot of people here are saying, I do not believe he would be "the best". MMA is mixed martial arts... it incorporates striking and grappling. Did Bruce Lee ever learn to "grapple"? Not from what I know of him.

Consider the 1st ever UFC pay-per-view. The idea behind that was to pit fighters of different disciplines against each other. He may very well have won that (arguably not against Gracie, but *maybe*). But that's because back then UFC wasn't about training in mixed martial arts (like boxing AND karate), UFC was a competition MIXING martial arts (like boxing VERSUS karate).

Strikers don't last in MMA. Tank Abbott was popular for awhile but has lost like 9 out of his 10 last fights because MMA has evolved and a brawler/puncher can't last against well trained MMA fighters.

I'm not comparing Tank to Bruce Lee just FYI - LOL!
Bruce would probably kick Tank's ***.

So my final answer is, if Bruce were alive today and training in his weight class, then yes he'd be one of the best MMA fighters in his weight class. But if Bruce Lee could fight in MMA in his weight class with only the skills he knew in his prime, he would probably not be a champion... and he definitely would not continue to go "undefeated". And he would definitely not win against larger MMA fighters (some maybe, but definitely not "all").

I don't care if he was "undefeated" by all challengers in the past. True MMA wasn't practiced then. He probably beat up a bunch of "tough guys" who didn't truly know how to fight, or other people who DID know how to fight, but not multiple fighting styles like today's fighters.

I'm rambling.

Well hate to disapoint u all but bruce would **** **** up.Wether it was his weight class or not. They didnt call him the best for nothing.Hes proved alot of stuff from his 1 inch punch to his many diffrent arts he studied.Hes so fast no fighter would even be able to come close enough to hit him.He was light weight but packed a punch tht would crush ur face bones.lats thing Bruce Lee was the real deal wether he was an actor or not.

He would get killed. People say he would be "too fast" to grapple. This is false, this is MMA, not track. Its ridiculous to assume that an MMA fight will never come to a clinch. Just look at boxing, a martial art with only striking, how many times do they clinch in a fight? Hey Bruce Lee was great for his time, but he would get crushed by the guys out there today. Yeah, he "studied" grappling, but the reality of the matter is that unless you devote years to learning BJJ, Sambo, or what have you, it won't be enough.

A very close source to Bruce when he was alive has told me stories all my life about all sorts of people challenging Bruce to fights. Bruce would take them from people even on the street. He was never beat, and we are talking challengers of all shapes, styles, and sizes. From what I've been told by people that were there, nobody could beat Bruce even with no rules. I believe too many hits, kicks, over the years he took are what caused his coma. (similar to Ali, even though he is still alive and never had a coma)

i don't think you can really speculate on that. the ufc is a bunch of muscled up ogres that throw some punches and basic kicks, but mostly roll around on the ground. Bruce Lee was a small guy and even though he was more technically sound than any of the ufc fighter can dream, i don't think he could dominate. i would imagine that he would beat the snot out of them but lose because they are so used to getting the S*&( beat out of them.

That would depend on how much real fight experience he had. He was certainly a phenomenal guy, but a real fight is an entirely different thing than training, or exhibition. Attributes like pain resistance, stamina, and will power all come into play, not to mention how you deal with fear, and we just dont know how Bruce would have dealt with all those things.
