Good for you for checking them out! We actually stopped vaccinating after our daughter contracted whooping cough even though she was vaccinated. It was a major outbreak in our area, and many had it, but all who had it were vaccinated. Our unvaccinated baby (hadn't gotten to that one yet) DID NOT get it though living in the same household.

The book that we read at that time which helped change our mind: "Vaccines: Are They Really Safe and Effective" by Neil Z. Miller. He was a medical research journalist who started studying vaccine efficacy for his own decision to or not to vaccinate his children. His research, much taken from scientific journals and VERY well footnoted, turned into a book that has helped shed needed light on the vaccine industry. You can find it at http://www.thinktwice.com I believe it should be required reading for every parent to be.

Some other sites and books that may help:

http://www.nvic.org (national vaccine information center)
it has a mirror site http://www.909shot.com
There is much info there about how to gain legal vaccine exemption for your child.

You can find these good books at Amazon.com
A Shot in the Dark
What Your Doctor May Not tell You about Childhood Vaccinations
Read anything by Dr. Sherry Tenpenney. She is great

Also check out http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vac-gen/additives.htm to see what the gov't admits is in the vaccines. They whitewash is so as not to scare you and tell you it is harmless. . . yeah, sure, whatever. But, interesting info there anyway.

Also a great video on You Tube:

And an interesting article about Flu Shots:

Then, just for the fun of it from Royal Canadian Air Farce:

AND YES - Shots do still contain mercury see the FDA's own website for those still in reportable range:
http://www.fda.gov/cber/vaccine/thimerosal.htm#t1
also, know that some amounts of thimerosol (*mercury) are not required to be report because they are less than a given amount.

Which ones you think your child needs is up to you after you have read all the relevant information, not just the MD, pharmaceutical, government money making recommendation. Our decision was to stop ALL vaccines, and no longer get any for anything. This was especially so after we found that vaccines actually made our daughter more susceptible to whooping cough and caused autistic symptoms in our son.

If you decide you do feel the need to get any, there are safer timetables in some of the links I've given you. Also, do not do multiple vaccinations. Ask for singles only. If you see ANY reaction after a vaccination report it to the VAERS.

Oh, and as for the autism link - read Evidence of Harm. MDs and the FDA use bad studies to say there is no link, but there is. Don't be suckered by their ties to big money pharms who make lots on these things.

All children need some vaccines. Vaccines for small pox are available now because of terrorism threats, not because of a real threat of outbreak, so I do not believe they are necessary. MMR is the most important vaccine, as over 500,000 children die every year of measles. Flu vaccines are optional as they have to be renewed every year and aren't always effective. Vaccines have never been linked to autism and do not contain mercury.

Here's a great, reliable site for info:

unfortunately most vaccines for children are mandated by the state you live in. Just be sure that NONE THAT ARE GIVEN HAVE MERCURY AS A PRESERVATIVE. After 40 shots of mercury it's a wonder that our children have any brain function at all.

Be sure to feed your children a good diet so their natural immune system is strong. http://www.juiceplus.com/nsa/pages/Home.soa?site=Lb53116
