"If you get seriously romantically involved with someone whose core views on life are different than yours, your relationship will end up being an unpleasant circle of conflict. Not because either of you are "evil" people. But, because it's impossible for two people with radically different values and beliefs to live in the same direction."

I don't think they are, how come people say our relationship will not work??? I mean Christianity is all about doing what is Morally correct, and I also KNOW that Atheists have Morals as well, if that is so, then what is the "conflict" that this quoted dude said???? It will not work??? and as far as I know you need a house in order to have a girlfriend, and also a job in order to feed her, and of course love, I am only 17 but already independent from my parent's grasp althought I share this house with my cousin(but I pay rent to him) I will also

Wow. I disagree with that person 100%. I would never rule someone out just based on their religious preference. There's so much more to a person.

People are moral and people are immoral. Don't blame religion, or lack thereof.

EDIT: But I don't agree with you about the whole man feeding/housing his woman thing. Women are very capable of taking care of themselves. I say this as a woman who lives by herself and doesn't have a problem finding food. (Oh, and a Christian with an atheist boyfriend, if that's relevant. But if he said that it was his duty to feed me, I'd laugh at him.)

Atheists are just people like we all are. They have a different view of things than others that's all, which is their right just as it is the right of those who believe in God to do so. I do not agree with anyone - believer or non-believer - who ridicules or mocks others for what they do or do not believe in. Live and let live. However, I can foresee many arguments about religious beliefs or the lack thereof if an atheist and a Christian set up housekeeping. Personally, not gonna work.

Some are, some aren't. We're a very diverse group.

There's no reason you can't have a relationship with an atheist. I mean, for some Christians and some atheists it would be a problem. As you can see from the answers to your questions, some Christians could never have a meaningful relationship with an atheist. But if you're both okay with your differing religious views then it shouldn't be a problem.

(I'm not having a go at you here by the way it's just some of the people answering you are being very rude)

Aethiest's are normal people being an Aetheist doesn't affect the majority of my actions. The only thing is that I don't say Amen when someone says a prayer. Being an Aetheist doesn't change my personality, and to those of you saying that Aethiest's do no good you are very narrow minded. We don't do good things out of god we do good things because we choose to.

(i'm sorry if i've offended you I thought your question was a good one and I'm sorry I haven't really answered you I'm just very opinionated :) but I think you are a open minded person and I think if you really like this girl then you should be with her why should beliefs interupt something good? You are your own person you should be allowed to make your own decisions)

Nope

but then I am one and I know I'm not evil and other atheists I know aren't evil either.

presumably the author thinks the relationship won't work because both will end up frustrated at the others god belief (or lack of)

by the catholic definiton set by saint thomas Aquinas Id say yes they are, not in regards of evil such as hitler or mao or stalin, not by any means. But Aquinas stated that evil in its nature is the going against the will of god, and I dont know many atheists that are going with the will of God, so Id venture to sya yes they are evil.

Psalm 14:1

Only fools say in their hearts,
“There is no God.”
They are corrupt, and their actions are evil;
not one of them does good!
