I need to lighten my dim mood here folks.

Who has no objection to wearing real fur?
Are you a proud fur wearer or unfaltering activist against it?
Or perhaps ambivalence towards this issue.

Men, you are not excluded from this question! :-)

Ok sue me then, I bought one of those long ball furry scarves at Daffy's(it feels real but I'm not sure) and I'm not feeling too guilty about it now or when I bought it. I wouldn't buy a fur coat b/c it's not my style, have no where to go with it, nor can I afford to but that's the only reason. I know, maybe I should watch the Peta video for full outrage value but it's never been an issue for me b/c I've never worn it before. Thanks for your answers.

I don't wear fur.
My mum has a mink coat, I think it's horrible.
Though I wear leather and eat meat, so It's not like it's a moral standpoint or anything, just disgusting.

***edit, I just noticed my hat in my avatar, that's rabbit fur. oops. I'm such a liar.

I doubt your scarf is real fur, it would say on it and cost about a zillion pounds. the way to tell is to run your finger down the shaft of the hair, if it feels rough one way and not the other, then it is probably real. but dont worry, they have to be nice to fur farmed animals nowadays.

I wouldn't wear fur, although I'm not necessarily an advocate against it. I think that ideally if we kill an animal we use it for all its resources--like how buffalo killed were used not only for meat but for fur, to make weapons out of their bones, etc. But I know this isn't how we do it today. We live in such a wasteful society and have no problem exploiting animals for our own personal advantage. There's no respect in the process.

Killing fifty rabbits just to make a fur coat, for example, is appalling.

Don't wear...but then I live in South Texas...it is 78 degrees today...fur serves no purpose here other than inducing heat stroke.

Wouldn't buy...down is a much better way to keep warm than fur...if it is that cold, give me a sleeping bag and cut arm and leg holes in it!

Have worn...I inherrited a mink jacket from my great grandmother...I have worn it once for a special occasion.

I try to reduce my animal 'intake' in general. Fur is completely unnecessary for any purpose so I choose not to wear it. But I don't nag others about it or preach about it.

I also think fake fur is a cheesy cop out. It encourages real fur as a social norm and acceptance of real fur. If for one generation people didn't wear real or fake fur people would likely come to see it as disgusting to wear a dead animal.

Well, I eat meat and use leather products, but I wouldn't wear fur.

I could actually see going vegetarian (not vegan, though), but since I'm stuck cooking meat for the family, I may as well eat it then.

Yeah, I know -- so hypocritical! But I only have the energy for so much at once, and this is a little further down on the priority list...

I have worn fur. I also eat meat and wear leather. There is nothing synthetic I have found that is as warm as fur is, but if I could find something that gave equal warmth, I would wear it over fur.

I would never wear fur, and think it's pretty disgusting - not that the wearing of animal products is bad, but the way the animals that are raised for fur is disgusting

Sure...I wear leather...why not add a little extra insulation in the form of fur...of course there is a limit...no dogs or cats...nor any species in danger of extinction...

I'm always surprised at the number of animal rights activists who think wearing furs is a problem yet they have not problems wiping out animal populations to build their big houses and office buildings....

I eat meat and wear leather shoes and a belt.

So I am not in a position to be morally outraged by fur.

The simple truth is that for us to exist comfortably on this planet, other animals and other people must suffer. It is a sad fact of life, and one we should do our best to curtail.

We shouldn't act as if our existence is better than those around us because we like furry rodents though. An honest look at each of our lives would show that we require that other life do with out simply to exist.
