You need to clean up the stink as good as possible. Once they mark something they will keep marking it. So use an enzyme cleaner to try to get rid of the smell and steam clean carpets, etc.

This is a very difficult problem to deal with. So I think it's an uphill battle once the behavior has taken over. But don't give up. If your cat isn't fixed get it fixed. Keep it confined to one room with food dish and litterbox for a bit and reteach it litterbox training. Change the litter to something else (maybe it doesn't prefer the brand you are using) keep the box very clean, clean daily, scoop daily. I think the scoopable kind is best.

Good luck!

You have to get your pet fixed if the cat is spraying it's because the cat is in heat and that will be the only way to get it to stop, unless you have more than one cat, then you may have another problem all together.

I assume he's male? If he isn't neutered then there's your first port of call - he won't have the same desire to spray if he's "done"....makes you want to legs, huh? It's well worth it though, there are so many other advantages to neutering

Have your kitty fixed, then clean very thoroughly where he has marked- including replacing carpeting and padding, if needed.
