I was talking to a methodist and a baptist the other day. the baptist told me that the methodist would go to heaven because he accepted christ as his savior, the methodist told me the baptist would go to heaven because he accepted christ as his savior. However when I enquired about my destination, as I to accept christ as my savior, upon hearing the notion I was catholic both informed me that I was on a one way trip to hell. Why is it ten that protestants proclaim other protestants can be saved, but the mere notion of a catholic being saved seems so proposterous to them?

I really don't understand churches that spend it would seem 40% 60% of their time preaching about the evil of the Catholic church and less time on JESUS CHRIST. I have hardly ever heard a Catholic priest during a homily ever bad mouth other churches. They focus on what is important that being Jesus Christ.

I am not talking about all protestant churches... Yet some protestant churches seem obsessed with bad mouthing the Catholic Church and less time on Jesus Christ himself!

As my catholic brother and sisters said "WE DO NOT WORSHIP MARY!". I have not met one Mary worshiping Catholic. The Protestants (most don't) who speak evil of Mary should show more respect for the Mother of God, Jesus Christ instead of demeaning her.

"Because he hath regarded the humility of his handmaid; for behold from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed." Luke 1: 48

"Shall call me blessed"... These words are a prediction of that honour which the church in all ages should pay to the Blessed Virgin. Let Protestants examine whether they are any way concerned in this prophecy.

Most non-Catholic Christian denominations accept Catholics as Christians. A very few do not.

The World Council of Churches which brings together more than 340 churches, denominations and church fellowships in over 100 countries and territories throughout the world, representing some 550 million Christians accepts the 1.1 billion Catholics as Christians. http://wcc-coe.org/wcc/who/faq-e.html#07

A dictionary would say that a Christian is someone professing belief in Jesus as Christ or following the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus.

Catholics would fit this definition.

In the Nicene creed, from 325 C.E., Catholics profess:

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in being with the Father.

Through Him all things were made.

For us and our salvation He came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit, He was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered, died, and was buried.

On the third day He rose again in fulfillment of the scriptures: He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We are baptized as Jesus commanded in Matthew 28:19, "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."

We truly are spiritually "born again," we just don't usually use those words.

For a complete description of what Catholics believe, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/index.htm

With love in Christ.

If you applied strict Baptist rules to Jesus Christ, He wouldn't have been saved, either. I mean, He drank wine and hung around with low-lifes like tax collectors and hookers.

Methodists wouldn't have let Him into Heaven, either. He cured a sick man on the Sabbath and failed to keep the day strictly holy.

That just leaves us poor, deluded Catholics who know the depths of our own spiritual poverty and cling to Jesus as the only remedy for our sinfulness. I guess that's why He gave one of our numbers the keys to the Kingdom -- a.k.a., St. Peter.

Now HE'D let Jesus into Heaven, even if the Methodists and the Baptists wouldn't.

Edit:

Anybody who reads a Jack Chick tract and takes it seriously probably thinks the National Enquirer is journalism at its finest.

Edit #2:

What is it going to take to convince people that WE CATHOLICS DO NOT WORSHIP MARY? I've tried every way that I can think of to explain that we honor her for her obedience to God, but WE CATHOLICS DO NOT WORSHIP MARY. Frankly, I'm running out of ways to tell people that WE CATHOLICS DO NOT WORSHIP MARY.

Maybe I've been too subtle in the past in my attempts to convince people that WE CATHOLICS DO NOT WORSHIP MARY. Maybe I ought to just come right out and be bold about telling people that WE CATHOLICS DO NOT WORSHIP MARY. So, with the thought that WE CATHOLICS DO NOT WORSHIP MARY in mind, I guess I ought to loudly say:

We Catholics don't worship Mary.

Really.

Satan gives us a test. The scriptures are divided; are they rightly divided or wrongly divided? (See 2 Tim. 2:15). (That is part of the division in Christianity here in USA presently).
At face value; the old testament is Genesis-Malachi. Scripturally, I believe currently that the 'old testament' is the law of Moses.
(apply (part 1) Joshua 1, and 2 Tim. 3:16-17, (part 2) Matt. 18:16, 2 Cor. 13:1 (jews had same principle Deut. 10-20). Law of Moses = 'old testament (synonym 2 Cor. 3:13-14 KJV)).
Go from there!!! God permitting.

I often wonder the same thing. We are all supposed to be brothers and sisters in Christ, and yet that somehow always is with the exception of Catholics. I accept Protestants, and appreciate the similarities between our religion. And although I often disagree with their point of view on certain matters, I respect their place as Christians.

Their understanding of soteriology is influenced by their hatred for Christ's Church. The Bible says that that we will be hated just as they hated Him. May the Lord have mercy on them.

Someone thinks we should believe a anti-Catholic comic book rather than the Bible. I don't think so!

Where is that Catholic that worships the blessed mother? I have never met him/her. The Church certainly does not teach that we worship anyone but God.

As a Pagan, I'd like to explain why God is so pissed off. The Jewish priests took his wife away. Haven't you read in the Bible that God even refers to "him"self as a Mother hen? And isn't Jesus = The Logos = Sophia/Wisdom? Wisdom is referred to in Ecclesiastes as being along side God from the beginning. Wisdom is the Goddess.

Now, as for Mary worship...in my opinion, they are only barely keeping Goddess worship alive. They ought to do more.

As someone who used to be a christian for 40 years and is now pagan, and was married to a catholic the last 4 years, i want to give you one thing to think about (if you are still reading). The Catholics believe in praying to Mary and other Saints for intercession. My understanding of this has changed from what it was when I was a JW. If you are a christian, and believe that saints exist and are in fact in heaven with God and Jesus, ask yourself this: is it wrong for me to ask, say one of the other members of the congregation to intercede with another member of the congregation on my behalf? If not, then how could it possibly be wrong to ask one of the Saints for help?

The problem (as Jesus might say) is with you! Everybody who has ever believed in God (including everybody who wrote the Bible) spend more time putting words in God's mouth than they do actually trying to comprehend what God's will is for them personally. And ultimately, isn't it about me and my relationship with God? (Why am i even writing this?)

So the question is -- are you saved? The answer is, have you accepted Jesus as your personal Savior, simple. While Catholics do believe in Mary worship. Let the BIBLE ring true to you, not the traditions of the church. It should be the BIBLE that shows you the way, the TRUTH. Salvation is provided by God through Jesus Christ for “all sorts of men.” (1Ti 4:10) He saves them from sin and death (Ro 8:2),The ransom sacrifice is the basis for salvation, and as King and everlasting High Priest, Christ Jesus has the authority and power “to save completely those who are approaching God through him.” (Heb 7:23-25; Re 19:16)

Catholics believe In Jesus too. Many will be saved from all religions, if they believe Jesus is the Son of God and died for their sins.
