I want to ask friends and family to join my family and I to dinner but also want them to know we are all paying are own way. Everyone that is on the invite list I know can afford it. I am not going to an extremely high price but just average price resturaunt. Any Suggestions?

I would tell them that I would love for them to join your family for dinner and tell them you would love to pay but until you win the lottery it will have to be dutch treat :)

It really isn't very considerate to invite people to dinner and not pay for them. We like to get together with friends for dinner but have always had the understanding up front that we would be paying separately unless we were inviting as a thank you for something or a special occasion. Whether your friends and family can afford it or not isn't the issue. If you want them to pay then let them know that is how you would like it to be handled before you get to dinner and the tab. They may assume it already but it's your responsibility to say they are welcome to join you and we are all on separate tabs.

Will you be calling up and emailing family/friends or sending paper invitations?
If it's email or phone I would ask "Hi there. Me and some other friends and family will be going to Olive Garden on Saturday. If you don't have any plans that day, would love for you to join us. It will be a shared bill or go dutch. So everyone pays their own way. "

Include the term "Dutch treat" in the invite. That means "everyone pays their own."

I would love to all have you join me for dinner at ---------on Friday night. It is a great restaurant with reasonable prices for everyone, and I would love to share it with you, and to have your company.
