I would let my child go potty, then back to the corner. What if the child really does have to potty. I'd rather them go potty for a minute then to have to clean a pissy mess!

Sometimes, that could be the case.
I would escort the child from the corner to the bathroom and back to the corner. If the child says it again during the same punishment you know they're just trying to get out of it.
Standing in the corner is old school and is more annoying than anything. Depending on the child's age I'd put them on their kneels, hands on their heads, and nose to the wall. This works well with my 12 year old son. My younger daughter (4 yrs. old) gets a time out on the couch after I explain to her what she did wrong so she can think about it and of course, my son is explained to as well before punishment is set.

It may or may not be true. Kids bladders are not developed fully. Even up to age 7 or 8. If the parent is very consistent with returning the child to the time out each time then the behavior, if purposeful, will cease. They must make certain not to count bathroom time into the timeout period. That would be a reason to go every time they were in time out.

I would take my child to the bathroom and then directly back to the corner as soon as they were finished. If they didn't have to go and lied to get out of the corner, then I would make them stand longer in the corner than for the original crime.

They are probably correct. If it happens every time the child is put in a corner then it is just a way of them trying to get out of getting out of the punishment.

I am sure the parent knows the child's habits and many times a child will try things to get out of the discipline.

Well I think if your the child's parent you probably know if they really need to go potty or if they are just saying it.

I'd say they might be right. They should escort the child to the potty, and then escort them right back to the time out chair/corner.
Cheers

when my children were corner age, they had a choice... they could hold it ~OR~ they could add 5 minutes to their time and go ahead and go... that way i never had to be the bad guy... give them as much control as you can with guidelines... it makes life easier!!
