I know the people say the work is tough. But Electrcians in California make an average of $30-50 hr, thats not even close to what a college graduate will be making, and when they do they'll be sitting behind a desk all day listening to corny office jokes. Which would you rather have?

To be frank , using my own experiences , I went to trade school and became a heavy - equipment mechanic and at night took classes to get my BA .
It was , and is , a circuitous path to a goal . I would advise having another trade/skill to fall back on should the job market change as it oft does .
The best of luck to you and try to be patient in your endeavors .
Happy & safe holidays ! :0)
P.S. The way I was able to receive my education was by earning the title of U.S.Marine , something I always wanted to do ; but , this helped me financially to attend classes through the G.I.Bill .

You don't just hop out of trade school and become an electrician, right? There is an apprenticeship process. Just like you don't hop right out of college and bring in $100k per year. Over time, the income levels of both paths will likely increase. Some college degrees will end up making much more than trade skills. Some will end up making much less.

Do what you enjoy. Can't stand working for a small company or managing your own business? Then go to college. Don't like working in an office? Then learn a trade.

Life is too short to make these decisions based only on the final $.

You are generalizing here. It's no fun to be an electrician either, have you seen where they have to do their work sometimes? No thanks!

Not all college grads sit behind a desk, not at all.

I suggest you do more research, you don't have all of the facts.
