If you have concerns, you should seek medical advise. It's not uncommon for it to still be a little painful. If it's swollen, and/or red around where the tooth was, I'd get it checked, just to make sure it's not infected. Good luck.

Well there should be a hole where the root of the tooth was. If it is still swollen that is not unusuall for an adult tooth extraction. If it is painfull like a throbing pain than it might be infected (dry socket) if this is the case call your dentist so he can have a look, it may need to be cleaned out. Apply ice to your cheek where it is swollen to reduce the swelling, If the swelling hasn't gone down after about 2 - 3 days make sure you call the dentist as well to keep him informed.
Best regards!

same here
a few weeks later two pieces of broken tooth worked their way to the surface, I was gobsmacked but after that there wasn't any pain and figured I was lucky it hadn't got infected. In hindsight perhaps I should have gone back and asked him to dig around a bit more but I'm not a big fan of that particular dentist anymore.

I had my back right bottom removed because it got cut and infected and had to be. and mine hurt for a couple of weeks. i couldn't open my mouth all the way and one day i sneezed and it caused my mouth to open further and something where my tooth was popped. it hurt bad for a few hours but after that I could open my mouth all the way and the pain wasn't as bad. left a big hole tho.

THIS TOOTH ENDED UP WITH SURGICAL REMOVAL.
THE GASH IN THE GUM WILL HEAL DON'T BE TOO WORRIED ABOUT THIS. NO PAIN A FEW DAYS AFTERWARD IS A VERY GOOD START.

you have a dry socket probably. You will need to go back to the dentist and tell them this-they will pack your whole with a cloth material that is soaked in this clove tasting liquid but thats how it heals.

Keep rinsing with warm salt water. Gums heal fast if you can keep it clean. Call to see if you had stitches put in. Sure makes you wonder if they did a sloppy job or not.
