The core of the problem is what you are eating.
DO NOT EAT:
cooked tomatoes for a month (raw is not acidic)
lemon juice, orange, grapefruit from concentrate (not from concentrate is actually alkaline, only in small amounts though)
fried foods
high fatty foods
only drink very very little fruit juices or none at all.
very little salt, and only Himalayan or Celtic sea salt.
So change your diet and DO NOT EAT 3 HOURS before going to bed.
Stomach acids should NOT be going up your esophagus, it will eat it away over time, it's very bad. Do go see your Doc. but first try what I said. :)

In my own experience, the level of acid reflux you're experiencing needs medical attention. I experienced the same thing and let it go for quite some time. When I finally went, I had "erosions" in my esophagus (pre- ulcerous). I was put on a medication (didn't nitice any side effeects) and over the next few years the erosions had disappeared. The big plus is that I am so much more comfortable now. It really is worth a trip to the doctor. Best of luck!!!

I also went through this myself. I went to the Dr. and had a Barium Swallow Upper G.I. done, they found I had a hyatel hernia with severe acid reflux. The only permanent resolution is surgery. But if you take Prilosec OTC, or go to the Dr. there is a Rx you can take called aciphex this is the best, it works for me, good luck.

Prilosec OTC is sold in most stores and is what most Gastro Doctors used to prescribe until it became generic. It works like a charm but you must be on it for a few days for it to work. Read the instructions well.
