I'm painting the open spaces in my bathroom. Picture, roughly from the ribs down is a light colored tile. The open spaces i'm painting in a olive color. My question, if I am painting the open space on teh walls, do i also need to pain the ceiling or should I just leave it in the beige/white color it already is?

I painted the ceiling in my bathroom. It's a medium tan color & I think it makes the room look taller b/c your eye doesn't see the separation between the wall & the ceiling.

Painting the ceiling the same color as the walls in a small room kind of gives you that "cocoon" feeling. It does seem to close in on you a little. I painted my bathroom a light yellow and decided to paint the ceiling the same color. I like it but it does make the ceiling seem lower. If you have really high walls I would paint the ceiling. If you have normal height I would paint the ceiling white or some shade of white.

If you paint the ceiling a dark color or in the same color as the rest of the room, you'll probably end up making the room look even smaller. My best advice is to always leave the ceiling, doors and trim white (or close to white).

I always suggest painting the ceilings in every room.
It makes a remarkable difference.
On the paint strip that contains the color of your walls, choose either the lightest or next to the lightest color on that strip.

I've seen many many houses done this way and the customers ALWAYS get high compliments.

If your going to use a flat color then leave the ceiling alone. However if your going to use more of a semi gloss then that will open the room up and it might not close it in to have the ceiling done. Personally i leave the ceiling alone unles the room is spacious.

If your ceilings are 8 feet or taller, paint them.

Yes, otherwise the ceiling will pale in comparison and appear dirty!
