Switch to soy ice cream; it really doesn't taste any different. Dark chocolate is better for you than other kinds. Jelly beans are good and healthier than most candy. Eat sweets in moderation and make your proportions of them smaller. Fruits are sweet too like pineapples. Excercise at least three times a week. Follow the food guide pyramid. Good luck!

Use substitutes, rewards, and schedules.

If you need chocolate daily, eat a bowl of Special K with chocolate and MEASURE out the portion (3/4 cup) it tels you on the side of the box. Eat it with skim milk. You can reasonably have that twice a day if you eat 5-6 small, low-cal meals per day.

Also consider mixing in 1-2 tablespoons of M&Ms with 1/2 cups of UNBUTTERED popcorn for a snack a couple times a week.

Dryer's/Eddy's Slow churned ice cream is 1/2 the fat and 1/3 less calories than regular ice cream, and tastes better. Have HALF A CUP (and you need to be measuring all this) once or twice a week for dessert.

A lot dinner on Saturday as your anything meal. You can have whatever you want to eat, but only eat until you are satisfied, not full or sick. This isn't an all-day thing.

Mark your weight loss and healthy habits on your calendar. If you do well for an entire month, on your Saturday meal go to Applebee's or Cheese Cake Factory and have half of a decadent dessert, and share the other half with a friend. You could also go to a gourmet chocolate shop and get a fancy treat (but don't get a block of fudge to take home!!!).

With chocolate i can say drink a mug of hot chocolate because a small chocolate bar contains 250 calories and there are hot chocolate powders out in the market which are 10 calories a mug and tastes the same.
For ica cream try the south beach diet chocolate ice cream . İt only contains 90 calories and it's quite big i must say.=)
Also you may try to make your ice cream at home so you have a control on the amount of fat and yıu can use splenda instead of sugar and use natural fruits to flavor it because they contain less calories than the syrup used to flavor the ice cream

Being on a diet doesn't mean not eating the foods you love. Eating is supposed to be fun, we're supposed to enjoy it. If food was just for nourishment we'd be eating flavor-less mush that had vitamins, minerals, protein, carbohydrates and fat. That isn't the case so keep on enjoying the chocolate and ice cream.

However, since these foods are high in calories and you need to be on a low calorie diet, make sure you read and understand the nutrition information. Eat only 1 serving, not the whole chocolate bar and don't eat it very often. Maybe eat it after a good workout to reward yourself.

that's right, you must have the discipline to say no to these things in order to loose weight. but if you really want them, try eating gelato ice cream, which is made with fresh low fat milk, instead of the heavy cream which normal ice cream is made. and dark choclate is better for you, because it has less milk content.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!

Yeah, stop eating it. That's the only way, the more you eat it the more you want to eat. Just keep the crap out of the house until you lose that weight. It's the only way. Sorry. I'm in the same boat.
