Is China scared of a war with Taiwan?

Everyone should be afraid of a war between China and Taiwan because it would start a war between China and the US and it wouldn't take long for the Nukes to fly.

Definitely not. China is a country with nationalism at its core, and will do anything to keep what it considers "its own land." In other words, it will go into war with Taiwan in a heartbeat if Taiwan really tries to exert true independence.

This is a fact that the US knows, and the US has stated many times that it will not support Taiwan in the event of a war with China.

The China-Taiwan issue is something that the Chinese are extremely passionate about and are willing to sacrafice a lot for.

No China mainland is not afraid of war with Taiwan. They could crush it like a bug. However it has to think of a possible nuclear war with the U.S. Something no one with half a mind wants.

China is the 600 lb gorilla in Asia. They can do whatever they want to whomever they want.

But they have not, historically been an imperialistic country. Their territorial claims have not been without some basis in fact, even though their methods are often brutal and inexcusable.

The United States is scared sh-tless of China, just like everybody else, since she would be very hard to handle should she get out of hand.

I don't think China fears America at all. At least she doesn't act like it.

no so much as in a possible retaliation with the US. for someone who said that china's air power is on par with the US Air Force and Navy, how many wars have they fought in the last 35 years. and compare with our boys. we would not have troops to repel the invasion but the navy and air force is more than capable to create hell to the ground troops. You have to think bigger then just the forces. Yes it could spill out into an international war, but there are other things.

If China attacked Taiwan, they could win militarily easily, but they would lose too much economically. They would lose trading parterns, any favor with the international community, sanctions, embargos etc.

Why should China be scared of war with Taiwan? Question is " will the US Government peacefully settle the matter or will there be a direct confrontation on this?".
The fact is it is part of main land China.Nobody can ignore this. It's simply a matter of time before China will act unilaterally , whether US and its Allies like it or not.China is capable of doing this in lightning speed without giving slightest opportunity to the opponents to make it an International Issue.
China is very strong .......size of the country is huge .....nuclear capability of China is known to all......Chinese are very proud of their own heritage and culture......their Army is second to none.....their Navy is strong ......the Chinese air power is equally strong .....and, ICBM , capable of dropping N-Bomb any time anywhere they like to.
Never underestimate Chinese might.
