Only if they are both very well trained. Some dogs are very competetive and won't honor another dogs point. They will blow past the pointing dog and flush the bird before you are ready. Hunting the same dog by itself doesn't present a problem. However if you have two well trained labs on a pheasant, it is a joy to be behind them. One will point and the other will act as a backup and if you are REALLY lucky getting two scents at once with one of them flushing and the other holding a point on another one. Using two labs will also let you cover more field for pheasants. On ducks/geese, it can be really handy when you get doubles, although sometimes they get confused.

Pheasant, they can cover twice the area. Duck and geese if you have a party it will be easier on the dogs. If it's just two guys and your limit is two geese then one dog is fine. My best hunting dog was a German Shepard who took first in a contest while my brothers spaniel took second. The next year the first rule was "Only hunting breeds allowed"

Beagles are better- labs are too fat, dumb and lazy.
A setter is good- they're bred for it. I hunted a lot with a friend who had a Britainy Spaniel- which was very good.
