Once milk is on the turn there is not much you can do. We don't use very much milk in my house so I buy filtered milk like Cravendale. It stays fresher for longer. A 2 litre container last for well over a week.

Studies have found that milk in opaque containers stay fresh longer than those in clear containers.
NEVER drink from the container...it puts germs in it which multiply.
# lways use milk in order in which it was purchased.
# Milk Containers should be kept closed and if possible stored in its original containers
# Milk should be refrigerated in 4º Celsius or 39.2º Fahrenheit
# Milk should be stored in the shelves of the refrigerator and not it's doors - the opening and closing of the doors do not provide the proper storing temperature for milk
# Keep milk stored away from strong smelling foods that produce odors.
# Milk can be frozen for up to 3 weeks
Note: Whole milk does not freeze as well as 2% or Skim ( Fat Free).
# Freezing milk will only minimally affect nutrient and flavor loss - it may however only affect it's texture.
# Frozen milk should only thawed in a refrigerator
# For best results - milk should be heated slowly so as to not scorch it's flavor or product a film of protein on the top.

Make sure your refrigerator is around 34 degrees. Fridges are supposed to be below 40 and above 32. The colder the fridge is the slower the milk will go bad.

You can't keep it fresh longer. When it goes it goes. You can use milk that's a day or two past it's expiration date for baking or cooking.

I think you can freeze it.

My milk had expiration date in August.

We used it in October and was fresh for a few weeks
If your milk has gone bad, my mom said to use it in you bath water.

You can't really. Just make sure it's kept cold and it'll last longer but you can't prevent it from going bad, it has an expiration for a reason.

Don't keep it out for prolonged periods of time.

I've heard dropping a penny in it will keep it fresh longer. what i do with almost sour milk is pour it in my bath water its great for your skin and then you don't feel like you wasted it.

Believe it or not, you can freeze it. It doesn't look the best afterwards when it is thawed, but it is perfectly safe. Another thing you can do is just make pancakes or bake with it.
