It's always difficult to defy an ideal when everyone thinks the same way. In these answers, everyone seems to believe the gratifying yourself is a must and should not be considered wrong. Everyone thought David could not defeat Goliath. Goliath was invincible. As a Christian ask yourself if your life is led by the holy spirit. If it is, you will defeat any Goliath. I am not condoning any belief regarding sexuality, I am only attacking the belief that we are subjects or slaves of anything, even carnal desires.

I am a 19 year old female I started masturbating when I was a Christian I was13 years old and afterwords I felt bad about it, but the desire for sex was so strong I couldn't help myself. It became such a strong desire by the time I was 16 I had to do myself every day, sometimes two or three times a day. But it was such a relief and felt so good when I did it I finally understood something so good that was harming no one couldn't possibly be a sin. After I started having sex with my boyfriend when I was 16 I stopped having to do myself as often but I still do myself and it is so good I don't think I will ever stop completely. Enjoy yourself forget the guilt it isn't harming anyone and it feels great doesn't it? Feel free to email me if you want to discuss it more. I am serving in the US Army in Baghdad.

Sex is a necessary component for a healthy low stress existance. It was made to be that way. It's natural to want it so is masturbation really sinful? Can anyone back that up, as applied to a woman? I think you can be a good Christian and release stress and feel physical pleasure at the same time.

If you don't masturbate your liable to spend more time doing non-masturbation-related activities, and this is a detriment to everyone's health, as sometimes those activities involve anti-masturbation activities, such as church attendance, watching the 700 club and other religious institutions that would tell you "Sure God invented sex and masturbation, but don't do them, they are evil, even though everything God invented is good! How is this possible? Don't ask questions, you've no right to judge God's magic!"
In summary, get naked, spread your legs, and paddle that pink canoe, honey. For the good of the free world, its the healthiest most natural thing you can do, .....besides coming to my place and doing it.

No--this is the only thing that let me make it until age 19 before having sex with a man.
It's not something you should become obsessed with, but it's natural and normal and a lot less physically and emotionally dangerous than sex with a partner.

if you feel bad about masturbating, you're doing it wrong.
but seriously, no, do not feel about it, there's nothing wrong with being a sexual human being, sex is the entire point of your existence, biologically speaking. i love sex too, it's a great time, but you can't feel guilty about it, sex is a wonderful part of existence, and if you're not having sex, masturbate. in my opinion, you should masturbate more often, it's actually very good for you. hope you start feeling better, cuz you def should :)

Everyone masturbates at some point in their life. Everyone. All Popes, the Queen of England, Dick Cheney, Pat Robertson, Stephen Hawking, Mother Theresa, Jerry Falwell - they've all tossed themselves off. Don't worry. Hell's almost certainly full.
If God did not want you to masturbate, he would not have put your genitals within reach of your hands. You know how he made it impossible for you to put your elbows in your ears? That's because he doesn't want you doing that. Masturbating is obviously fine with God.

This posting right here is enough of a start to freeing yourself from what has you held in bondage.
Its the fear of getting caught that makes you ashamed, and its that fear that actually keeps you chained to the sin.
If you really feel secure with your pastor, or his wife, depending on the situation, talk to them about it.
Seriously, just talking about it, is enough to break those chains. I know because it did for me.
