An oral surg.said I could wait 2 yrs,he would then look at it again. Is it possible for me not to have the tooth and cyst removed at all?I understand the operation can be somewhat risky. The surgeon also said that for the consultation he must advise me to remove it but if he saw me on the street he would tell me not to worry unless it bothered me.I'm not sure how to interpret that.Any ideas?

There is 2 options:

If it does stress you too much, get the tooth extracted... this surgery is just harder on you because the bone is less elastic with age and the healing is harder... The risks are the same as with a younger patient but there is more chances these risks actually occurs...

Alternatively you can just see a dentist/oral surgeon each now and then to take a xray and make sure there is no progression on the cyst's aspect and size. Also if it becomes symptomatic you should get it out. But if there is no progression, you will keep it all your life.. There is a lot of patients out there that are on this alternative and everything is just fine.

The reason is that a cyst can rarely transform into a malignancy, but if you get a radiographic test each now and then if it does happen they will remove it without any problem then.

I agree with Dr Albert Infection is never good for the body even in your mouth. It can cause health problems.

JOHN,
MY ADVICE IS TO HAVE THIS WISDOM TOOTH AND CYST REMOVED.
IF YOU'RE UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THIS SURGEON'S OPINIONS AND HAVE DOUBTS, SEEK A SECOND ORAL SURGEON'S OPINION.
