The cat foods with tuna are nutritionally balanced for cats. It doesn't necessarily make it a good food. Most feline nutritionists feel that any fish should be used sparingly if at all.
Poultry, beef, lamb, rabbit and vension seem to be the best protein sources.

The one thing I didn't see mentioned is that the fishy cat foods shouldn't be fed more than 2-3 times per week and one reason is because of mercury levels found in fish, in addition to the things the others already said.

It's not the BEST thing for them, but it won't hurt them to have it once in awhile either. However, I feed fancy feast, and have you looked at the food that has seafood in it? I've found little pieces of...well I don't know what but it's not pretty. I won't feed fish flavored to my cats anymore...they really enjoy chicken and beef anyway though, so they're plenty happy :P

It is fine to have fish flavors in your meal rotation, but you don't want to give the fish based food for every meal. The tuna cat foods are balanced for a cats nutrition so they are fine, but you don't want to give them for every meal. It is good to have several flavors of food in your wet rotation so your cat doesn't become picky and so your cat doesn't become bored.

My cats won't eat anything tuna flavoured at all, I guess they must know what's good for them!

Most fishbased foods are high in phosphorous which can be hard on the kidneys. This isn't usually an issue unless your cat has chronic renal failure (CRF) aka kidney disease.
Also, cats can get hooked on the fish oil, making it difficult to get them to eat other protein sources.

Ask your vet. Anything with tuna is not recommended.

ITs the salt in tuna for human consumption that is bad for them.
