Think about it…The WHOLE POINT of running around telling everyone that they are going 2 hell is so that THEY will go to heaven after they die…Why is death BAD then?

Those Christians in Colorado have become Martyrs to the cause… Their deaths should be celebrated by the “I deny myself any type of pleasure on earth so I can experience the joy of the afterlife”. It has only given more air-time 2 their cult… oh, excuse me, their mainstream religion.

It is the same as how I can’t comprehend why people were upset when the last Pope died… He was the VOICE OF THE CHRISTIAN GOD ON EARTH

What do u think happened to him after he died? If you believe in Christianity then *GASP* he is up-stairs chilling w/God! WHY would that be a bad thing?I sn’t his passage 2 the afterlife the 1 THING he had been living his life in preparation of?

Death should only be scary to those that think that they will end up in hell or get turned off like a light bulb Shouldn’t “True Believers” be HAPPY to die for their cause?

The system that they have lived their whole lives for?

It would b like a doctor being terrified of graduating from Medical School because he had lived his life up 2 graduation preparing for being a doctor.

Fear of death to the religious is absurd… It is the goal of religion… IT IS THE REWARD!

Not something to fear?

Doesn't fear of death show that there is an innate lack of "True Faith" in the human animal?

P.S. I am not saying suicide!! Suicide is bad no matter if you think it is because of religion or just because most of the time it is due to mental illness!!

I'm talking about the deaths in CO and people being scared of death when it should be the celibrated conculsion to a life.

cathlocs were upset when the pope died because they have screwball theology and are never really sure if what the're doing is good enough to get them to heaven.
and christians do look foward to going home to be with the lord, but because death is un-natural (because it entered into the garden because of sin) of course its a little scary and sad to us

The goal in Christianity is not to die, and heaven is not the main focus, you really have generalized how christians feel/think more than anything. I suspect you do that with other groups of people you don't understand also. I also think it is disrespectful to say those two girls who died, that that was a good thing. No, they were not looking forward to dying and they did not declare their faith, they were just shot. I don't give any power to the pope, but then again i'm not Catholic. What are you the, an Atheist? By the same attitude someone could say, "stop trying to find meaning in your life...isn't the whole purpose of Atheism to be meaningless and driven by your chemicals......go shoot and kill and sleep around and act like an animal"

Since I'm a Christian I can only tell you about Christianity and that I will do gladly. The point of Christianity isn't to die and go to Heaven but to live and be in the Kingdom of God which is here (Matthew 12:28, Luke 17:21). Jesus told us to be the salt of the Earth (Matthew 5:13) and that means that we are obliged to tell the world where it's greed will lead it. We ought to be perfect (loving everyone) and as such be the light of this world (Matthew 5:14).
We should not be afraid of death but embrace life not fearing what tomorrow will bring. Death has no power over us for the one that is Life told us so. As for pope, I listen to God trough prayers and I don't need no "voice of God" to listen to, nether does anybody else if they know their redeemer. When he died he was buried and he is now decomposing in the earth and waiting resurrection, whether first for eternal life or second for eternal destruction I don't know nor I want to speculate.
When people die they don't go to Heaven nor are they aware of anything. They just die. Sorry for the spelling, English isn't my mother's tongue. Hope this helped.

Many folks claim that THAT really is the point.

I'm Christian, and I submit that it is not. The point of our existence here is to uplift fellow humans in thier times of need and to do so in unconditional love.... and I MEAN "unconditional." There are no strings and no agendas.

And its not easy to do.

The idea that God uses positive or negative reinforcement to induce faith makes no sense to me whatsoever. None.

And I think God is okay with me feeling that way. Even appreciates it.

Life is not about salvation its about loving service.

Death is not a thing to be feared. But it does seem a waste to spend all those years educating people just to have some ******* come along and short circuit all the good they could have done in this world.

According to the atheists and agnostics on this site, many of them have Christian loved ones, so perhaps they would not be happy for their loved ones to die. Also, Islamic extremists take other people with them when they are "martyred" and I hardly think we need to encourage such behavior.

I agree with Catholic Crusader with the exception of the sin scale. It is a waste and an affront to God to take your own life that He blessed you with...not only that, but to take a bunch of other lives with you. Senseless.

We do not fear death, but neither do we throw away the gift of LIFE God has given us. To throw your life away is essentialy to commit suicide, which is a grave sin. Life is a GIFT (hint to all you pro-choicers).
