I remember that feeling. I think I brushed 4 times a day when I had braces, and used a non-alcohol mouthwash a few other times. Try Tom's of Maine mouthwash; it's gentle.

When I had braces, I brushed 5 times a day and flossed twice daily. Trust me, don't brush your teeth that much! My gum along the edge of several teeth wore away due to excessive brushing and brushing too hard. Granted, my teeth are very clean, but the area where the gum used to be is VERY sensitive. When I go for my cleaning twice a year, they paint this desensitzing stuff on and it works for the most part.

Ask the hygenist or next time you go to the orthodontist if your gums look okay because they are just as important as your teeth. Always use soft bristles and just be careful when you brush!

To be honest, I cleaned my teeth the same amount I did when I didn't have braces, and I still have not had one filling. Dentists scare people too much about cleaning excessively with braces.
Btw, don't brush that much because your gums will start bleeding

Well it is normal to clean them after you eat on top of the normal three times a day. Leaving food and gunk in there is no good so it is a good thing you are cleaning a lot but be careful of over doing it..

NELL,

ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS TO BUY AND USE A WATERPIK DAILY AND SEE A DENTIST EVERY 3 MONTHS WHILE THE BRACES ARE ON FOR A PROFESSIONAL CLEANING.

Wow - That sounds a little obsessive... You only need to brush your teeth three times a day...

Ten times a day is too much fluoride. Regular 2-3 times a day is plenty.

Thanks for asking this question! I'm now a level 5!
