my husband and i have had financial issues for a long time.
just over the last couple of weeks, he missed 4 days of work because he was sick. we were worried about the finances, yet again.
just two days ago, on sunday after the evening service at our church, someone gave us a big box that was wrapped up.
on it a tag said something like "we've prayed, asking God who He would like to bless this year and your family came to mind."
it had a turkey, pot roasts, chicken, ham, canned goods, an outfit for our son, and toddler snacks for our son.
it also had an amount of money.....the exact amount of money that my husband had missed from work.
it really humbles you when someone does this. it's wonderful to know that God uses other people to bless you, instead of doing it all on His own.

steven costanza: sorry to burst your bubble, but my husband is not a slacker. he is a hard worker. if you would have seen how sick he was, you would know. i was worried about him driving to work it was so bad. so don't sit there and accuse someone of being a slacker when you don't know what the situation was.

to the one who asked me to add if we knew God would provide or were we under stress: there's times where it is either/or. sometimes i'm the one under stress and my husband says "God will provide", and other times my husband is stressed and i'm the one saying "God will provide". in this situation, we were both stressed, but we knew God would provide.

Reading stories like this, makes our faith grow. My mom had tuberculosis when I was just a newborn baby...in 1954.. She needed to have a lung removed and even so doctors weren’t optimistic at all. So my dad decided to pray and fast with our church before taking the decision to sign the consent for her surgery. Nine days latter, he went back to the hospital, and asked the doctors to do the tests again, and they were surprised and shocked, because they did not find anything afterwards, only scars where large holes had been! God is so good! There is nothing that He does not see, and although many times there are illnesses and death, He knows of our afflictions and troubles and goes through them with us. We will know some day why some were preserved others had to die...but through it all, He loved and suffered together with His children, the humanity. What matters in the end, is to be saved for eternity, this body is just a shell of our character which God will make sure to recover for us together with a brand new body, one that is incorruptible, which will never see death again. Daniel’s friends were thrown in the fire furnace, but Jesus went in too, and was with them through their trials. He does good things for humanity all the time! Thank you, dear Lord, for having offered the ultimate gift...Your Son!

you know I find that sooo amazing!! I have had things happen in my life, but nothing like that, you are though not the first I heard this happen to. If you could can you add... Did you simply trust that God would show up or were you in any fear or stress?? I just wonder... I'm an absoulte believer, but I always have wondered what the person was thinking before they were blessed in this way.
I hope you all have a very Merry Chistmas!!!

That is truly lovely- it reminds me of that part in It's A Wonderful Life, where everyone comes over with a big basket of money to bail George out of his financial trouble at the bank. I think that's really what Christmas is all about, people getting together to do something nice for a family who needs help.
I know last year, when I was having some financial troubles myself, the greatest Christmas gift I received was a big "box of money" from my boyfriend, which I used to pay off a loan that was giving me trouble. It really started me on the road out of debt, and now I'm pretty much debt-free. :)

I'm so glad you were able to receive the help you needed. I'm also glad to know that these types of events don't just happen in churches and have nothing to do with god. They are directly from the kindness of the people around you.
Everyone, take it upon yourself to help people in any way you can. Even being kind and patient with a harried, frustrated cashier at a retail store can really brighten that person's day. It feels so good knowing you made a difference.
