he's not sure if he exists

For our own benefit, not His. He wants *us* to learn something. He already knows how our faith is doing, but sometimes He wants to show us something about ourselves and a trial or "test" is the only way we will see it. It is never about God learning something - as you rightly said, He is omnipotent and omniscient. He has no need to learn anything.....but we do.

He doesn't. It just needs to be recorded for further generations (not to mention the millions of angels witnessing this outright lie of Satan that humans can rule themselves and set the standards of good and bad) beyond a resonable doubt that humans need God to live happily ever after. All this that is happening isn't really even a test. It is just God not intervening, letting humans learn by example what life is like without Him.

I believe God doesn't have the need to test our faith but allows difficulty and trials to enter our lives to strengthen us and help us grow. I agree with the person who said we grow faith to faith. He's God and He can do anything He well pleases

It could not be for his own benefit being omniscient. But also, it could not benefit us in anyway an omnipotent being could not have provided through other means.

God has no need to test out faith- but we do. When He does, its not for His benefit, but ours.
