The cross is an important symbol to us, too. It did not become a symbol of Christianity until Constantine adapted it. Until then the fish was a more common symbol. Unfortunately the cross as an object of veneration can be misused. It is decorated and worn as jewelry. It is made something other than the symbol of atonement. The Jews had a similar issue with the brazen serpent of Moses. Made by Moses at God’s command to be a sacramental means of healing for the Israelites in the wilderness (Num. 21: 9). It seems to have been carefully preserved, and became an object of superstitious worship (2 Kgs. 18: 4); it was accordingly destroyed by Hezekiah, who called it Nehushtan.

Our worship is for the Savior, and not other objects. If we did chose one, we would use the open tomb as our symbol.

"This is not a question whether they are christian or not!!!!. Lets just pretend they are christian for this question" You are contradicting yourself there. You say you aren't worried about if we are Christian or not, then you say pretend we are, thus saying we're not. lol

Anyways, we don't have crosses because we believe that the most important part of Christs life was the resurrection, not the death on the cross. Thus the reason we don't have crosses as our symbol. And I am sure we are not the only church that doesn't use a cross.

We worship the living Christ, not the instrument of his death.
We understand that the cross is a symbol of Christianity throughout the world, but we do not use it as part of our worship. Since Christ was resurrected from the dead, and gives us the same ability, we believe in following the precepts of a living, breathing being - our Lord and Savior.
Many have asked the question about the crosses, and the Prophet, Gordon B. Hinckley, answered it by saying that we do follow the precepts of the living Christ, and don't believe that His death was the main event in his ministry.
Personally, I've always wondered, had Christ been stoned to death, or drowned - what would be the symbol then?

The LDS believe the most important part of Christ's time on earth involves the resurrection rather than the physical death. As a result we celebrate His life and not His death - and so we do not use the symbol of His death (the cross) as a spiritual symbol as do other religions.

LET'S PRETEND THEY ARE CHRISTIANS!!!!!
How utterly condescending of you, and how morally superior of you.
NOT!!!!!!

How about we pretend that you are masquerading as a human being, and, that you think you are being funny, by insulting a group of people, who wish only to have the right to worship as they please, just like everyone else.
Your question is not only degrading, it is asinine as well.

The LDS do not worship a symbol, such as the cross. The spires on top of the chapels, are significant to the ideals of, reaching heavenward, by following the tenets of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

You want to worship a cross, feel free. the LDS, do not do that.

We prefer to focus on the fact that Christ atoned for our sins in Gethsemane and overcame death, rather than the morbid details of His death.

But wait, saying those things would make me Christian.......

LDS follow Jesus' teachings, and acknowledge Him in His role for our salvation. So, OK, let's assume they are Christians for this question.

I've seen a few other Christian Churches that do not display a cross, Calvary Chapels, just for one example. The thinking is...
"Why do we want to promote a visual image of a means of execution?"
If Jesus has been born in France in the Middle Ages, would we display a guillotine? Or if in England, would we display an ax and a chopping block?

I don't necessarily agree with the thinking, but it is what it is.

Aside from that, LDS denies Jesus' Deity, deny several foundational doctrines of Christianity, they have added to God's Word, and developed doctrines from those extra-Biblical texts. The Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints has apparently taken the name of the Lord for naught.

Kingdom Halls do not have crosses either.

Check your facts before you use certain words (like ALL).
