You could probably put it in the microwave for a few seconds until it reached the softness you're looking for.

if you will use your banana within a few days, you can put your banana in the fridge. it will turn black on the skin only. the inside will still remain the same. however, if you want to store your banana for longer duration, by all means, freeze them. but make sure to peel the skin off first, cuz there's nothing more annoying than having to peel a frozen banana!
when i make banana bread, i don't use any additional sugar. i just wait for the banana to get really ripe, ripe enough that a lot of the brown dots started to appear on the skin. don't be afraid of the appearance because the banana gets very sweet on the inside. so use that banana and mash it and you'll get your fruit sugar.

Best thing to do is put bananas in a paper bag, preferably with some other fruit. It is the natual 'gases' that veggies and fruit give off that make them ripen/rot. When you put them in a closed bag this speeds up the process. That is why I put harder-than-I-like pears in there. In a day or two they are perfect. Putting fruit in the fridge keeps it fresher longer. To use a fresher banana for bread you're going to have to really mash it and add extra sugar. The banana flavor won't be as strong either. You proabably should wait.

Ms. Blue Sea lady obviously doesn't know what she's talking about because when you put a banana in the fridge or freezer, it last longer. If you want the banana skin to turn black you store it ina warm place like in the sun or you can warm it up in the oven for a couple of minutes on like 90 degrees.

Put them in a paper bag on your kitchen counter. The banana will ripen quicker. putting them in the frig won't make them ripen faster, although the skin may turn black sooner, the fruit doesn't ripen.
Banana bread is an easy bread to make.... good luck with it!

No, the colder the condition the longer the bananas will stay green. just put your bananas in a warm place, maybe in front of the sun. just dont leave them unattended or they may get too "ripe" good luck!

I always stick mine in the freezer, take them out when I need them, they thaw in no time and are really mushy, just perfect.
