O- is actually the most versatile blood donor because it contains no antibodies on the red blood cells and is Rh negative.
O+ blood still contains the Rh factor which could be problematic in somebody who doesn't have it in their blood, such as an AB- person.
O blood types don't have the A or B antibodies on their red blood cells, so when people are transfused with type O blood, their body doesn't recognize that it's foreign.

while getting your own type of blood is always best, you can donate to anyone who has a positive blood type. However you can only take O+ or O- blood.

People with O- are able to donate to everyone, but they can only have their own blood type.

yes o type can donate to any other type of blood BUT.... O+ can only be given to positive blood types and O- can only be given to the negative bloody types... but if someone in your family needs blood you don't have to be a match to donate.. you would donate your type and they would recieve the type they need for free..

O- is the universal donor.
Positive blood can be given to a person that is negative in an emergency but after the first transfusions it will cause problems.
Negative blood can be given to a positive person with no problems.
A can be given to A and AB
B can be given to B and AB
AB can be given to AB
O can be given to A, B, AB and O
AB+ blood is the universal recipient because they can receive A,B,AB and O blood positive or negative.
